So I'm trying to challenge myself.

I usually have an issue with dropping items into a crucible, sometimes I make a mistake and end up either throwing the entire stack in, placing the items into the NEI interface and deleting them, pressing Q one too many times and overshooting/undershooting the amount.

So I want to make it machine assisted.

At first, I tried a redstone clock hooked up with a piston switch to toggle it's signal to a wireless redstone trans/reciever where it would make a dropper sequentially drop what's placed into it into a crucible. However the dropper doesn't shoot items straight down, it sprays them all over the place and it usually misses the crucible.

Is there a more efficient means of dropping items from an inventory into a crucible without doing it manually?

The pack I'm playing is Unleashed 1.1.3

Let me be clear about this. I know some of you out there might have methods for doing it manually (meaning by "hand") that I haven't mentioned. I don't need nor want to know your methods. This is a self imposed project I want to do with an automatic system, so take it else where.

EDIT: Also, if there's a way to automatically fill a crucible without the use of a tallow golem, I'd be interested in hearing it.

Golems, chest, and magic mirrors come to mind as a quick answer.

But also does not unleash have access to the dropper which you can point straight down?

As I mentioned, a down facing dropper doesn't shoot items straight down, it sprays them in every direction.
Further more, mirrors still require items 'thrown' into it. This would leave with a similar issue as throwing into the crucible.

I used a Hopper\MFR Conveyor, the conveyor drops it straight down, the hopper is able to connect to the conveyor and pretty much anything can connect to the hopper.

Tested this. The speed of the conveyor 'technically' doesn't drop items straight down, however it does have them drop in a uniform pattern, meaning it's just a matter of aim that matters.

For me, this isn't really the cleanest method but it works I guess.

I'd appreciate hearing cleaner methods if they exist.

Believe dw20 used a BC pipe that just dropped items out of it straight down. ymmv

We can fight dragons.
We can build forcefields.
We can wield the might of the atom.
We can wield magic that would make Gandalf the White blush.

But we can't make items drop straight down on their own.

What a world.

You can put the dorpper right one top of he crucible the resulting item will get pushed out. No need for a gap for the items to be able to go anyway but in the crucible.

Tested this. Items will still shoot out in all directions around the crucible, however items do hit the crucible more often.

Also tried a method my friend showed me which works every time it seems.

This uses glass covers from Forge Multiblock and a dispenser pointing straight down.

I was going to suggest something like this, except I wouldn't put the dropper so far away and just use regular blocks instead.
Also maybe set up some type of piston thing to open one face of it if you do decide to do it manually.

As for how I get around this issue.

I just separate out the items I want to throw in into their own stack. So if I only need three of something that is all i have in that stack. I just toss in that small stack.

Let me show you how I control the dispenser. Downstairs in the "basement" is a piston toggle which would push a cobblestone block (which for the purpose of demonstration has been removed) in the path of the redstone wire which is hooked to the ExtraUtils redstone clock.A switch near the crucible will turn off and on the signal from the clock so I can place items in the dispenser at my leisure.

Have you tried using a turtle? Not sure how effective it will be, but it's worth a shot. (Or is CC not in Unleashed? I forget...)

Yeah CC's in unleashed.

A good idea, however turtles and I aren't on speaking terms right now.
Aggravation happened, words were said. We're taking a break from each other for a while.

I replaced the dispenser with the dropper. Works the same way with the shown glass covering.

It gave me a heart attack when I put arrows in it...

maybe a suggestion for Thaumic Tinkerer, to add a Thaumic Hopper that you can place above the crucible which will drop all it's content into the crucible at a fast speed an in the order it's been placed in the inventory when given a redstone signal? would also be nice if Thaumic Tinkerer would add some way to deal with the released liquid taint spilling all over the place...

hmm... if a turtle can do it im thinking of a program where you choose what aspects you want to use and it find the items in the AE storage and drops them in crucible :D

I use magic mirror (when placed in the block above the crucible the items always hit, if you place it higher you need blocks around it to "funnel" the items directly down(just 1 layer is needed)) and a magic hand mirror in my inventory to insert items via inventory rather than throwing them in.
