There are no decent replacements, but optifine has around a 75% chance to break things in MPS and there is really not much getting around it since the authors don't communicate on kind terms.

Are you in 1.4.7? I think some of the render bugs were fixed in 1.5.2 but there seem to be other numerous issues as well.

What are you using Optifine for? If it's just Zoom, MPS has it's own (Or possibly one from MPS Addon's.) just because optifine doesn't like it.

Oh damn I just tried ultra D3 for the shaders mods and the entire creative menu freaked out.

Optifine has been cropping up as a source of problems more and more as mods get more creative in rendering and using different shading/effects methods. Good news is, Forge has gotten better and better at incorporating the performance gains that people use Optifine for in the first place. Bad news is that means mucking around with installing newer versions of Forge directly into the .jar and also spending time figuring out the possible causes of the performance hits in the first place since you can't just throw Optifine at it as a cure-all.

And of course, all this might change in a week or month or when 1.6/1.7/65.8 rolls around. I used Optifine for quite a long time prior to 1.5.x and dropped it when it started causing me problems, found different fixes for the problems it used to solve, and will almost certainly wake up with new problems down the road.

Yayyyy playing a living development sandbox is fun.

Are you serious? I don't think any of that is particularly hard to read. I can't make it make sense to you. And if I said something that is wrong or not related to the issue it would be more helpful to point those things out so someone smarter or more experienced can correct me.

Problems have causes, some solutions to problems can cause other more different problems. Different fixes might solve the problem the first attempted fix caused or might make it worse or differently bad. This is the world we live in and is certainly the game we are deciding to play when the end result has dozens of creators all doing things in the way they see fit.

This issue can be sidestepped by turning off custom fonts in the MPS config, it will mess up the text in the tinker table but you can see the icons still. I would remove Optifine but sadly my poor old computer needs it to run MC at a playable framerate in a heavily modded environment. Also I haven't found a good replacement to turn off depth fog\dimming and that effect really annoys me.

In the Tinker's Construct config file under "difficulty changes" you can turn water clear and void fog off.

To fix this issue, open the MPS config file, there will be a line for Custom Font = True (something like that), turn it to False.

I personally don't have issues reading the font on the GUI as I use a custom font for Minecraft, which actually looks a lot better then then the font used by MPS.

Some modders are forgetting that many players need Optifine to help with performance, and buying a new PC just to play minecraft is not really an option.

The only reason I use Optifine is the mipmapping and antialiasing. FXAA via a driver works, but I prefer not to globally apply FXAA to Java if I can help it.

Wake me up when those two features are "built-in" eh?
