So i think its great i can get bonemeal from pulverizing wool but i get 4 string back each time. Essentially i can cycle the string back into the system as wool and now i have an infinite bonemeal generator so long as i keep supplying rf.

Not sure if this was intentional or part of TE at all. I think it should return 3 string at the most really. Even if the chance for bonemeal is still 25% perpulverized wool, wool is a renewable resource.

Bonemeal from Wool? isn't that a bit, err, odd?

I've never really used Thermal Expansion grinding since I've traditionally preferred the macerator, that's likely to change as soon as I get to the point where I start processing nether Lapis of course, but if I had to guess it's probably something to the effect of grinding dyed wool results in 4 string and possibly the appropriate dye, which for white wool would be bonemeal.

It's not really "free" bone meal, since you do spend some energy to get it (and it's only a 1/4 chance), so I don't mind it.
In fact, I wonder why macerators have only given two strings back since forever. Thanks KL for trying something different I guess (and amazingly useful!)

In the older TE 3.0 beta from December that I'm using on my server (too lazy to update since this one works flawlessly) the pulverizer only returns one string and no bonus products. The same was true for TE 2 back in 1.4.7.

Macerators do what they did since forever because they were already the best option until very, very recently.

Why would you do that?
You can get huge amounts of bonemeal from bonesegments in the nether

you know... because the Nether is friggin dangerous if you're not fully suited up for it.
spiders everywhere, fire bats exploding at every turn, ghasts bombing you with their balls, blazes sniping you from the sky, one fall down straight into lava.... christ, I don't want to go to the Nether anymore :(

well the "proper" fix for this problem would be TE adding it's own dyes(blue, white, brown) for pulverizing dyed wool.

also RP2 allowed you to turn wool into 4 strings using wool card, and so does project red.

With all the hacates, angry/furious zombies and other shit, I dont think the overwold is much safer

In the overworld only creepers explode, and nothing (iv'e come across so far) sets things on fire (apart from player interaction).

Appearently you can also pulverise Blue Wool for Lapis... Is there a way to automatically shear sheep? Or is there another kind of blue dye? I feel an urge to setup a lapis-machine now...

Yep, there's a number of ways to automate sheep shearing. That's going to be a potential "balance" issue for lapis.

I had found it when researching ways to make everything i want renewable resources. I wanted forestry fertilizer. It can be made with bonemeal, wheat, string, and something in the center im forgetting. I was using the pulverizer wood to craft the string and bonemeal in the same process. Excess string goes back into wool to get reprocessed for bonemeal.

I can give more details on specific machines if anyone was lost by that explanation.
