Ok so how about this. Still using Dw20's 1.6.4.
How would I part a 3x3 or 5x5 column in the water all the way down to my base so that it can fill back in and be parted again on command?

Ooh, Sethbling once showed a parting water trick. :D Obviously, you might need to do it on a grander scale, but it's definitely doable. But then again, it requires vanilla redstone knowledge...

Yeah that would take a billion pistons to make a shaft of open air down to my base. Since I can't move my base to the top of the ocean to let people in I was thinking maybe have it so I can get an open shaft that people can ride a arcane levitator elevator down to my base. I am trying to get it so that you cannot see my base or the entrance to it unless I want you too. I have thought of using gateways in hidden rooms, but people can accidentally find or break those.

Just think of telling someone to go to x,y,z and wait. They come out and are like "There is nothing out here!" Then the ocean opens up and you appear from the depths saying " Follow me."

Hm. Idea. Not sure if it's possible, as I haven't played with Calclavia's MFFS enough to know the ins and outs, but would it be possible for it to make a forcefield platform up on the surface, populate it with blocks (including an OB elevator block), and provide a way down into your base via elevators? You may have to add "repeater" stations for the elevators, and a sponge upgrade may be useful so you have this empty column that they can elevator down. And then finally deconstruct it all after they're in.

You know, there is a mod out there that replicates redstone frames and then some. It is called Redstone in Motion. Though I'm surprised it isn't already in the pack...
MFFS has a block which also replicates frame motions at the cost of power, as a plus you don't have to have frames attached to everything, but at the same time, it doesn't work with all mod blocks either..
Thermal expansion, which is the backbone of dw20 pack, coarsening crashes when moved by frames. Tile entities aren't many to be moved and as forge and mc have evolved they have become even more incompatible I wouldn't try it if I were you

Then what about a layer of Q blocks above your base that look like water or a layer of ocean floor? But there's a way to travel down to be level with that layer (after a couple water blocks, ladders down sounds good) so when you look at it from there, it turns into blank space so that you can see the base.

OK, seriously, time to get qCraft.
