Spiders, Spiders, and more Spiders!

I've got a number of outdoor areas with a four block wall perimeter. Nothing can get through except for Enderman and Spiders because they seem to be able to jump unlimited number of bricks. Is there any way to keep our spider friends out of the area so I can work in peace?

Use an old and tested method of building an overhang. Spiders cannot traverse along the undersides of blocks and thus are prevented from climbing over the wall.

And making only 2 high enclosed buildings prevents stray enderman from coming into your base uninvited.

Well, a base with water as the "floor" makes for an unpleasant living quarters though. A 2 & 1/2 block floor works too by using half slabs for the floor and an additional 2 block height. Shouldn't be too cramp then.

Yeah, that'll work. Really you only need a single block sticking out for it to work, but no harm done in doing more than that.

Make a magnum torch, it will prevent spawns in a huge radius and you wont even need walls anymore.
