Spawn Moving

I started a new world yesterday using the Direwolf20 pack and spawned next to a small lake. I marked the location with a waypoint from REI'S Minimap so I would be able to find my spawn location again in the future.

Whilst mining to get me a load of ores to start I died a fair few times. Each time I re spawned I would be in a differnt location on average 20 blocks away from my original spawn point.

Sometimes I would be in the lake itself and others I would be on land. Any ideas why?

Spawn in SSP can change within a certain area of the actual spawn location

Are you sure about that one?

In all the time I've played I've always spawned at the original location. Admittedly i normally have a bed soon after starting but sheep appear to be rare at the moment in my world.
