Soul Shards Spawner Question

So I have collected a Tier 5 Spawner for Cows and was going to set up a square room with the spawner in the ceiling and the spawned cows being pushed by conveyor belts into a row of turtles, with the XP being collected by the brain in a jar. However I was wondering what is the best size to have the square room for the spawner??

The reason I ask this is because I am under the impression that a small room wont spawn as many mobs as the spawner is capable of but then I don't want to build an 11x11 room if I get no benefit out of it.

spawners work on a 8x8 with the northwest corner of the spawner block being the centre, I usually double the walls up on north and west sides to create a 5x5 spawn area.

Due to the raw speed of a Tier 5 spawner you won't need to worry much about space; as Ako said, a 5x5 or 7x7 area will be fine.
