I'm playing in FTB Unleashed 1.1.2 on server.
I just bred some Soul bees and I'm quite proud of myself.
But now I encountered problem. Hostile Environment.
I looked up from Apiarist's Database, what biome they can work in.
But...
They just don't work!
I tried Jungle: Hostile Environment
I tried Bamboo Forest: Hostile Environment
I tried Nether: Hostile Environment
Everything where I take it, it's hostile environment.
Is there something specials about these Souls Bees, what they need?

Try and look into temperature/humidity tolerance.
With a higher temparature/humidity tolerance, it will be able to work almost anywhere

According to the FTB Wiki, it prefers biome with Hellish (tolerates +0/-2) Temperature and Normal (tolerates +1/-1)Humidity to work. Humidity +1/-1 is basically "any humidity" (since there are only 3 humidity levels - Arid, Normal, Damp). Hellish -2 is one of Hellish, Hot, Warm. Jungle and Bamboo Forest are Warm/Damp, so the "default" bee is will work in any of these biomes. Since it doesn't, it probably has different temperature and/or humidity tolerances.

I think that these bees are bit bugged. I have those tempature toleranses in my bees, but they still cry for Hostile Environment.

If you are using extra bees, just take the soul species serum and slap it on a rocky. Problem solved

and in what biome you`re trying to use them?
while they should tolerate any humidity, i have doubts about temperature. according to wiki`s info about temperature, hellish -2 allows them to work in warm, hot, and hellish biomes, but not colder.

Either use a serum to put it on a rocky / other good bee, or use the acclimatizer with ice to drop the temperature requirements further.

No idea why they aren't working currently though.

Can you post a screenshot of the bee / apiary including tolerances and current climate?

Doesn't always work. I've used the Demonic Bee serum on Rockies and the result was still a bee with Hellish requirement (and the +/- 1 Temp Tolerance from Rocky). It needed also the +/- 3 Temp Tolerance serum to work in a normal biome.

That happened on some other species as well. According to the info screen it should have worked. but it still needed some additional temp tolerance, before it stopped complaining about Hostile Environment.

How about this...Just as I get a purebred princess and drone, then mate to queen...queen's complaining about hostile environ (in a Jungle). Desert is no good. So I go to nether. Now queen is complaining it's "not daytime"!

I'm pretty sure that there is still time in the Nether, get a clock and you'll probably see its night in the nether and you just need it to be day.

Don't clocks and compasses spaz out when in the nether by design?
bingo

From the MC wiki: "The Nether has no day/night cycle..."[DOUBLEPOST=1382477438][/DOUBLEPOST]

Problem solved with several trips to the acclimatizer

Use extra bee machines. Get a species serum, then use the serum on rocky bees.

They now use rocks, are nocturnal, cave and are flyers... They will also work in most normal temp biomes.

I don't understand this. Serum types are chosen randomly. So you need many of the bee to get a specific serum. Even more so for species serums, as, if you use hybrids - you've already reduced your chances by half. So you need many pure-bred to get a species serum. Or is there some mechanic I'm not aware of that increases getting a species serum?

The problem I referenced above was my first Soul queen...and she didn't like the environ, and hence wasn't giving offspring. Any other Soul species I had were hybrids.

You need 2 Hygroregulators pumped with lava and at least 3 (maybe 4) heaters powered by BC to raise the humidity and temperature by enough so they can be used in a Norm/Norm environment. That's taking into account they have at least down 2 or both 2 on temp/humid tolerances.

Purify the breed, get a drone and princess with the traits and feed generations of their offspring into the isolator.

#beescience[DOUBLEPOST=1382527129][/DOUBLEPOST]if you can't get them to work in the nether due to lack of daytime, inoculate them with nocturnal first, you should have that serum by now.
