Some interesting new ores

Found some Ferrous Ore and Aluminium Ore while mining in the DW20 pack. The aluminium seems to be used only for making cans or cells for holding liquids, though I assume if gregtech was installed you could use it for other things. I can't find a single use for Ferrous Ore or its products. If pulverized it has a 5% chance for "Shiny Dust" which can make "Shiny Ingots", which according to NEI, can't make anything. Why do these exist?

I believe they are part of Thermal Expansion, and are still being developed. Consider yourself lucky that you got them for your DW20 pack world gen. Kinda like Elo has Tungsten

Shiny Dust can apparently be used interchangeably with Platinum Dust with GregTech.

The Aluminum is useless because it is from Xycraft. Or is it from Xycraft because it is useless...? One or the other.

"Smelt" them in a Distillation Tower. It's used for the diesel trains.

I wonder if the AlumiNUM [sic], which is from xycraft, would be forge-dictionary mapped to the gregtech Aluminium if the spelling was corrected. GT's Al is a semi-replacement for tin, steel or iron for some items.

Not saying it should be mind you, Xycraft's Al is really far too prevalent (and easy to smelt) for all its uses in GT.

I was making the usual Xycraft is useless joke. It can actually be used to make Aluminum Cans, but either NEI is missing a great deal of their recipes, or their uses are strangely limited. Some but not all water recipes (why would it be missing the Forestry recipes when it's so clearly modeled after the Forestry Tin Cans?) are shown to work with it, and the only recipe it shows for using it with lava other than running it through a Liquid Transposer is to be used as fuel.

Well, i'm having various issues with NEI on the new packs right now, anyway. Hitting the recipe and "uses" buttons cause a tiny but noticeable lag spike. Several items won't show their recipes at all, like the ultimate solar helmet.

I'm getting the same. Lag spike, and frequently no information returned about how the item is used. R works, Shift R lags.

I can tell you think so, but wrap your brain around it, and check wikipedia if you really don't believe me. You may not have noticed, but we do things differently over here. And yeah I'm just weird. I say it "Aluminum" but usually write "Aluminium".
