Alternative spellings are just the results of an uneducated population. Call it "adaptation of language" if you wish, but it is what it is. This goes for all countries slowly morphing dictionaries.

The evolution of linguistics is not the result of a lack of education. In fact, it is often quite the opposite.

Guys stop it with the language talk. If I want to see that I'll open up a YouTube video and look at the comments...

As for the Xycraft Aluminum (that's how it's written in the mod) apparently you can make torches out of it (with Phosphor) that are apparently better (give more light) than regular torches. At least that's what the Xycraft wiki says, I personally don't see much difference though, not enough to make it worthwhile at least.

As for Ferrous Ore, according to a wikia page google came up with it's indeed part or Thermal Expansion. No uses have been mentioned though (I've also found some in my Mindcrack world, but it seems to be quite rare).

For both ores more applications will probably come in future patches, especially Xycraft is still only in early stages of development.

Torches have a light level that's 14. The max light level is 15, so... for the Aluminum Torch to be brighter, it would either be 1 block brighter, or it would have to create light emitting air blocks around it to stretch the range further. Being 1 block brighter is more likely, and is also harder to notice if you don't know what to look for.

Yeah that's why I said "that's what the wiki says" and that I don't see much difference. 1 light level difference is barely noticeable with the naked eye and probably a waste of a material that will most likely become more useful in the future. I'd rather spend some extra wood/charcoal/wax on a few extra torches then use a non renewable resource, even if it's practically worthless atm.

I suspect I'll be ready to start over again by the time Xycraft becomes useful, and I like the looks of the torches, so I'll probably go ahead and make the aluminum torches.
