Are there a reason for World gen of Quartz for AE to be disabled in the global config and in dw20 of 1.6.4?

B:enableWorldGenQuartz=false

I haven't found any and was investigating, can you create it from nether quartz?

Ok, maybe i just have bad luck. But why do the config say no Gen, is it controlled by some other mod or setting?

DW20 has already use 3 quartz in his LP, so it has to be there. My guess is another mod is controlling it, so they disabled one.

Remember Quartz tends to spawn at around medium level, not too deep or too high. If you're near bedrock you won't find any, unless something has changed.

Do remember DW20 made his world in 1.0 version of the mod. It could have been accidentally changed with the updates to 1.0.2 or something. At least the Biomes 'O Plenty biome configs have (luckily) changed too between the 1.0 and 1.0.2 version.

I can't test it right now, but I will a bit later today.

Quartz should indeed spawn below sea level but above diamond level. So from y lvl 63 - 20 or so.

check the COFH config for world gen, you can completely control oregen there, including ore gen from other mods

Just checked on my new DW20 1.0.2 world, there's definitely quartz and lots of it. Nothing changed from defaults.

Mind explaining the whole world.cfg thing? I'm not familiar with it.

I have just literally spent 2 hours carving out a mountain on a newly generated map, and have not found a single piece of certus quartz, and neither can other players. Cannot just be bad luck.

Check in /config/cofh for a file called WorldCustomGen.txt it should exist and contain something that ends in:

Code:
UNIFORM oreApatitef 1398 0 6 7 50 85 true
UNIFORM oreSulfurrc 458 0 4 4 32 50 true
UNIFORM oreCertusae 854 0 5 7 25 75 true
UNIFORM oreAluminumtic 1475 5 5 7 4 45 true
UNIFORM oreDarkironfz 2175 0 4 4 2 7 true
NORMAL oreSaltpeterrc 458 1 16 6 8 35 false

It it does not exist check in the latest version of dw20 1.6 pack or the latest Global config
http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/ftb-master-configs.35354/ also make sure the other files are the same.

Hope this will help you, if they are missing and you add these files the missing ores will be seeded into the existing world you have.

Make backups of the world first!

Hmmm.....someone else was saying their DW20 1.0.6 world unexpectedly retro-gen'd. I wonder if this is related to the Certus (or lack thereof) as mentioned in this thread.

Dw20 had these settings right from the start, it was the global config that i used that was missing it.

What was changed between 1.04 and 1.06 is the CoFHWorld-Generation that got a few new posts: atgaluminumtic, atgapatitef, atgcerusae, atgcoalvanilla, atgironvanilla, atgsilver, atggoldvanilla, atgcopperte, atgtinte

cerusae is in there but it was already in the file under the name orecertusae so im not sure what these new atg is, maybe someone can explain it. But its probably the cause of the retrogen even if it didnt do much in the world.

I had retrogen in my horizons map, it was every pine wood tree losing all its leaves as the id changed. I now have forests of logs everywhere, where was that axe?!
