Details of the issue Hello,

I have been trying to load Sky Factory 3 as well as other modpacks for quite a few days on my new laptop without success.
The game takes hours to get to as far as 5/7 steps in the launcher then the window will eventually stop responding and make the entire laptop extremely slow.
However, I can play vanilla Minecraft and run my Sky Factory 3 server completely fine on this laptop and play on my other devices.

Here are the specs:
Intel core i5-4210Y 1.7 GHz
NVIDIA Geforce 920M with 2 GB dedicated VRAM
4GB DDR3 L Memory

Is there something wrong or are my specs just not enough to support mod packs?

You don't have enough RAM for this pack unfortunately. You'll need to either install more RAM or find a lighter pack to play.

Thank you, would you be able to tell me how many RAM are need/recommended/optimal ?

Pretty much all of the 1.10.2+ packs require at least 4GB available (after things like your OS is loaded) so realistically you need 6GB as a minimum but more common configuration would make it 8GB

Thank you, for your help. I upgraded to 12 GB RAM. I can now run my server and the game at the same time.
However, I'm getting an average of 30 fps (always jumping between 20-35) is there anything I can do to improve the FPS?

I am having the same issue, mine will only get to 3/7 then gets up to like 30k to 40k of 42k and force closes.
