Sky adventures 1.4 impossible?

Is it just me or is sky adventures 1.4 much harder to start than older sky block packs? First I noticed there is no wooden shears, so you can't harvest tree leaves to compost. Then I noticed that you can no longer hammer wood into wood chips to compost. Finally, and this is the worst, there is no ceramic bucket for you to be able to take the water out of barrels and the lava out of a crucible to place it in world to make a cobblegen. Are you really supposed to keep composting string to dirt and sifting that for rocks to hammer and sift until you get enough iron to make a regular bucket? That is taking forever.

You can use a crook to get more saplings for compost and then work your way up to the first shears. I have not actually played 1.4 Sky Adventures, but there might be a tin can or a bowl, or something similar to move liquids quicker.
