Hence why I said that choosing and buying your components is the hardest part. Picking the right parts based on size, compatibility, performance requirements, cost, etc. But once you've got that done and you have all of the parts, as long as you didn't make a mistake when planning the build or buying the parts, actually assembling the computer is quite easy.
Yeah, anybody should be able to build their own system these days if they're willing to learn a bit about the building blocks and how they fit together, kind of like modded Minecraft.
It's a far cry from the first computer I built, what with having to connect each pin on every IC separately, and even then I could only afford 256 bytes of ram to begin with. This was in 1976, btw, before we even had floppy disks and programming was via toggle switches.

I really like this analogy, I might be misinterpreting it, but I still like it. Minecraft is the case, Forge or Modloader are your mobo choices, and the mods are everything else. The difference being that Minecraft with or without Forge/Modloader still work without the mods, but you get the idea.

ewwwwwww sli-ing two low end cards
why not get one high end card and not deal with sli problems?
sli is still ewww when you could get a 770 or a 780 or a 290x when the custom coolers come out next week.
these two cards only cost me about 400 ish. a 780 is 600 odd.
I didn't have all the money in the world at the time. The plus side is, I can still upgrade them
could still get a 770 for 350 and not deal with sli grossness
or wait for the mining craze to die down and get a nice 280x/290
It's bad form to burn someone on their setup in a thread like this. Let me don my monocle and hat.. Know what is eww? eww is using wd hdd's after the dark ages of the early 2000's. eww is corsair "high end" power supplies, proving you can pay for certifications. Most of all, eww is putting a 'k' variant cpu which has an unlocked multiplier (an overclocking cpu) into a tiny enclosure such as a suitcase. Good day to you sir.

i used to have an old and i mean old (1996) computer that i hated and dealt with for like 5 years before i got a new comp. But the next comp i bought (for 250 US dollars) came with a desk, monitor, keyboard, mouse....the whole setup generic stuff but i was happy (was able to play WoW on Ultra!!) but after a year some how my PSU wasnt able to keep up and fried my motherboard
but then i got a school check and bouught a new comp off of ebay (never doing it again) but the one i got is the one i listed its been good and im happy that i got it just need do a few upgrades and hopefully it will be a beast also need to redo the paint job on it cant wait for a warm day to do it 
I've always loved the idea of building a custom computer, but always find myself just buying gaming laptops. It's easier. More expensive, by far, but I prefer the portability.
