The first update for Windows 8.1 is going to be auto-loaded to us next Tuesday (4/8) and is supposed to bring more keyboard/mouse features back. Also, for those concerned, you'll be able to run "Metro" apps in a desktop window instead of the retarded full-screen mode forced by the 'other' UI. While there was talk about "Win9" there is as yet no release schedule according to Microsoft's keynote at the Build conference this week, despite rumors to the contrary.

Where else?
You can just set up win-8 to boot straight to the desktop instead of the metro screen. Unless Start8 has extra features, somehow I doubt it's got core coding in Win-8 beat.

And I second the fast cold boot statement. After using computers that take minutes to start up, the fact that from a cold boot it takes 5 seconds to start up fully and ask for my password, I will never go back to Win-7.
my windows 8 computer used to take 5 secods. then i added a SSD.

I personally think Windows 8 and 8.1 is more for things like a tablet. (The start screen with those squares atleast)

I like windows 7 waaayyyyyyy more that Windows 8/8.1
