Going to be hosting a server for a few friends, about 5-7 people max
Want to run the FTB ultimate mod when its out.

Few questions about hardware specs really

Server spec is
Dual Core 3.2ghz intel chip (replacing stock cooler so I can over clock it to 4ghz)
8gb ddr3 1600mhz ram
16b ethernet with 20mb up/down fibre line
7200rpm SATA harddrive
1200w PSU

My main question is, buy an SSD to use as the OS drive and minecraft drive, or use 2GB RAM as a RAM Drive and back the RAM drive up to the harddrve every 15 minuets or so?

What do you guys recon is best?

Server is also sometimes used as a media server and transcodes films on the fly, however have had no problem hosting mc server and transdcoding at same time before. (But doesn't do this much so won't be a big issue)

Reason I ask as switched to a mindcrack server in meantime and cpu ussage idle seems to be 50% compared to betapack A's 15%

Many thanks

I am gone like you to this thread for this.

Also i would not recommend overclocking. It makes it more "unstable" and unreliable.
