Hello, I've been having some problems trying to connect to my friends server. Upon loading my server list within the game client, the server will show "Polling" for a few seconds then show "Can't reach server" with a red X. This happens every time if I haven't played the game for a certain amount of time. A simple fix to this is restarting my computer. However, restarting my computer each time I want to play is quite annoying. I'm not sure what could be not allowing my computer to connect until I restart but these are the things I've tried:
Disabling anti-virus software (running COMODO)
Disabling Windows firewall
Placing my computer into my router's DMZ
Opening any ports related to Minecraft (even with my computer in the DMZ)
Opening ports on my Windows firewall (even with firewall disabled)
Allowing any program to do with Hamachi or Minecraft through my Windows firewall (even with firewall disabled)
Deleting my servers.dat file and re-adding the server
Direct connecting to the server
Deleting all of FTB and re-downloading it
Re-adding the VPN to Hamachi
So far, none of these have worked. The only thing that ever works is restarting my computer. The only thing I can conclude from that is that there is some other software on my computer that could possibly be blocking it that I have opened up later as I usually have to start FTB as soon as my computer restarts for it to work. I have tried to search for information on this issue but it seems the only thing I can find is relevant to someone who is actually hosting a server, whereas I am not. I have no control over the server.
In case any of this is relevant, I have the following hardware:
Router: Linksys WRT54G (with up-to-date firmware)
Modem: ARRIS / Motorola SB6121 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0
Processor: Intel Haswell i5 4670k
GPU: GTX 770
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero
Operating System: Windows 8 (64-bit)
My Operating System is on my Solid State Drive and my FTB is on a separate storage drive
If anyone can think of what would be causing this issue, I'd love to hear. Thank you.
ETA: Today I had my connection drop while I was actually on the server giving me a java connection error and then the server did the same Polling issue. My console reported this:
