Nothing special, but its really compact and havent seen it posted anywhere...

Use a jailer's safari net to place the squid in there so it doenst despawn.

You're probably better off with the BioFuel Generator from MFR rather than the force engine. Unless you have crushed ice or something.

yeah, i havent checked efficiencies at all, the engine can be easily replaced with anything that uses fuel and creates MJ or EU.

Ive changed the OP to reflect your suggestion, as it is indeed much better :)

The efficiency really is less of an issue. The BioFuel Generator simply, in terms of MJ/t, out performs everything but boilers with biofuel. I'd wager you could actually power 2 more ranchers with just the one generator and fuel about 4 BioReactors.

It's funky. I like it.
Have you tested it over a time period to see how quickly you're producing surplus fuel?

I hadn't played with squid power yet so I felt like pushing it to the limit:

It's actually still producing excess ink so it could probably handle a 6th BioReactor.

Not bad! I like infinite power systems as long as I can justify them by virtue of sheer sillyness. :D
Now I just need to figure out how many squid I need to run a dozen-or-so 36HP boilers!

EDIT: Has anyone tested the accuracy of the boiler fuel calculator for 1.5.2? I haven't used it for a while...

Well actually that setup is now running 10 BioReactors like a champ. Each produces 1 bucket every 50 seconds and they used to every 5 back when I tested it. Then one reactor could fuel 2 boilers from startup and still produce excess. I'd estimate that single setup, if you start each boiler after the previous heats up, you could probably easily do 12 boilers.[DOUBLEPOST=1378950754][/DOUBLEPOST]
Your only problem will be that squid eventually despawn. This is fixed in 1.6 with Name Tags, but... MFR isn't up for 1.6 yet
Without MFR this setup wouldn't exist in the first place ._.

Well that's why the OP mentioned the jailer's safari net. Even if that still allows the squid to despawn after a longer time period (I wouldn't know, I've never used one) that's still very low maintenance given that apparently one or two squids should do the job. And I can think of a few ways to set up an alarm to detect if the squid ever does despawn. Add a decent buffer tank, and/or maybe even a backup fuel source, and there shouldn't be any significant danger of the boilers losing fuel.

In other words, this setup makes me smile and I refuse to give up on it!

As well as the aforementioned jailer's net, there's the option of the cryogenic globe from thaumic tinkerer for stopping the squid from despawning

I guess you could use soulshards? (never tried with squid). Or the MFR auto-spawner like triblades said, but that needs mob essence (which could be generated by a soulshard+grinder).

I thought jailer's safari net would prevent despawn? Does it just prolong it for a long time? or is it a bug and still sometimes allows for despawn?

I think this energy loop is too easy and too efficient for its own good tho... i hope it gets nerfed but not totally removed.

not sure what vers8on the OP is running, but I was under the impression that it was already nerfed. There is a penalty for limited diversity in the MFR fuel chain and it now longer scales directly with item diversity count.

Sorry, i honestly didnt read/notice any other toopic about generating fuel with squids, i just wanted sacks for mystcraft, and thought of trying the sacks in the fuelgenerator, thats all hehe.

i did read that in later versions of MFR the fuel making with little variety has been severely nerfed (im using unleashed 1.1.4), but still, this thing produces SO MUCH ink, that it would still probably be a positive loop.
