So, fun fact. On the Thermal Expansion wiki (http://thermalexpansion.wikispaces.com/) there is an issue tracker. You will notice that NOBODY HAS REPORTED THIS. So, it's not a nerf, it's a bug. The sky isn't falling and I'm human. Sorry about that.

If one of you would report stuff like this in the future, that'd be great, thanks.

Sorry King Lemming!!! I didn't realize it was a bug. I thought it was a balance thing. To me a bug is usually something that crashes the game or makes something not work. This didn't do either of those, just changed output values. I figured since it worked fine, that this was the new norm. My error.

Actually your post was fine - sorry about that. I was more referring to any of the following:
Yet another pointless, unnecessary nerf. Now we get an extra 1/8 of a plank per log, making it worthless.

The GT sawmill better be unchanged, given its mammoth cost (for what it does). I guess we'll have to use charcoal for our boilers now (though given the OPness of MFR tree farms, thats hardly an issue :D).
With that change it makes the sawmill useless. The point of it is to get more planks, not a net gain of a single saw dust for energy.
Needs to be changed IMO.... :(
This is why it's bad to nerf things based on popularity, rather than buff other options.

All of these basically immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was intentional. o_O

Submitted. Actually, was submitting when you posted. Confirmed this works with all four vanilla wood, but not any other.

I think that's because the "community" get's "greg-nerfed/balanced" too many times, they see it as a norm, not a bug.
This is it exactly. Even though from prior posts from KL I doubt a GT nerf would affect his mod. The current ftb scene where Gregtech is allowed to run rampant all over other mods, it's understandable that people would see this as yet another nerf instead of a bug.

It's a good example of why that mod needs to be reigned in and not allowed to affect a modpack so significantly. I know that there was talk of separate packs containing GT, but to avoid this type of confusion something wider reaching should be done. Like maybe make a Gregtech Branded pack where he is allowed to be king and leave him out of anything else.

Otherwise you can be frustrated by people confusing bugs with nerfs, but it shouldn't be surprising.

What i find funny is that everyone assumed it was a gregnerf, but Gregtech was never ever mentioned.

I suppose we're conditioned now. It's like an abusive relationship.

But at least the sex is good.

Also, the EE3 recipe for it allowed you to get rods before entering the nether by going to a desert biome and getting those flowers (cinderbloom iirc).
Yes, and it was much appreciated!

It's funny, because he doesn't.

Name a single change to another mod (other than itself, IC2, or vanilla) that GT has instituted in 2013. All mods change vanilla in subtle or not so subtle ways, and GT is an IC2 addon - it's express purpose and only reason for using it is to modify how IC2 plays.

It's a good example of why that mod needs to be reigned in and not allowed to affect a modpack so significantly.

As somebody who actually plays a modpack where somebody (*cough*Dave*cough*) has actually tuned the config, it's a sad and wholly baseless claim you make here. GregTech "affects" FTB "so significantly", because it's configured to do so. It's configured to do so because nobody has changed the default config beyond setting block and item ids

Although I agree it's premature I know where this is coming from. Lately we've seen a lot of rather silly efficiency 'nerfs' when it came to power producing.

It feels like we would be an annoyance. I know how authors can get irritated if more and more people report the same bug after it was first found a week ago.

It feels like a damned if we do, damned if we don't situation.
