How would I go about getting jet fuel in large quantities? The ingredients seem a little hard to come by, and without an automated farm it seems challenging.

How do I do this?

I am attempting to get a lot of power going on for my extractor.

Can't just keep adding on magnetostatic engines forever ;)

From my current play through, it seems the ingredients aren't always consumed, which allows you to get a few buckets out of limited ingredients.

How often would you say they are used?

It varies. I was able to get about three cycles off before I consumed two ingredients, and after replacement it went one, and so on.

You'll be surprised how long your resources last. I think Sir @Padfoote was almost pessemistic.
You also get a decent amount of fuel per cycle which is nice.

The hardest ingredient problems you're likely facing are blaze powder and magma thingies. (Ghast Tear doesn't count because you only need one)

You have a ton of options these days for both of those difficult ingredients. Magic Crops covers both I believe, but if you don't have access/interest for that, you can also make a mob-farm for killing blazes. A Borer can harvest a blaze spawner from the nether if you don't have a bedrock pick yet. A spawner controller fed 1MW (1024x1024) and geared for speed will produce hundreds of blazes for you to kill any way you please. I recommend a weapon with Looting if you want to kill them manually.

And obviously you can just combine blaze powder with green slime to get magma thingies.

Fun :)

Borer in the nether for netherack and soul sand in quantity
Ethanol crystal is fairly easy, if you run out of dirt just bore a mystcraft age at dirt level
Blaze powder and magma cream well autospawner or bore a blaze spawner or diamond dolly it then get slime from either autospawner or any other slime farm
Then coal, well, if you really run out of it, you have a problem :p

I have access to magical crops.

Actually, looking at automating with RoC Fans.

Using a custom pack.

Just be aware that RoC Fans work on around 90% of crops, but not all.

Off the top of my head, I believe the following don't work: essence, fire, water, earth, air. Also, some oddball cross-mod crops don't work as I recall.

The ones we're talking about do work, however.

Would I be able to use it with iron, slime, certus quartz, and blaze?

Those are what I need right now.

Well, since I am too lazy to get a boring machine to get blaze spawners, here is what I came up with:

m8ZkHi7.png

I have 7 fans being powered by a magnetostatic engine, because I am too lazy to do anything else.
The fans push the seeds/essence to the 7 hoppers at the end which all feed into an ender chest connected to a room of other ender chests that import into my ME system.

Pretty neat, huh?

(You can see my beautiful iron farm in the back, which has pretty much the exact same setup)

I have slime growing as well as blaze. I figured I shouldn't do magma cream seeds since I might have more use if I do them separately.

Also, don't worry, I will have plenty more seeds than this. Just a start.

Also it looks like your first fan will recieve the most power, and each fan with recieve .5 that power of the last, so i think that the last fan will get 1/32 the power of the first.

I highly suggest using a shaft powerbus with a shaft bus controller. It will distribute the power more evenly.

Also, rather than using hoppers you can just use transition planes from AE. Unless you dont want to speed the extra reasources lol

Does the power of the fans really matter though? It seems that the essence/seeds still make it all the way to the hoppers.

If it's being efficient with power, I don't really need to. The tesseract hooked to the engine comes from a power factory with over 200 magmatic engines.

Sooo..

Drowning in energy.

I just really want to get to gas turbines so I can make my extractor go insanely fast.

I wanted a lot of Jet Fuel as well to be safe, as i don't feel comfortable until i can produce 10x what i'll ever need. Anyway here is how i proceed for the materials:

-10 grinders dedicated to soul sand and 10 other ones to netherrack for the tar and dusts, all powered by gasoline engines
-to get the above materials, i'm using a whole field of magical crops nether seeds (1 or 2 stacks of seeds) with the ME set to autocrafting soul sand out of them, for netherrack a quick run in a mystcraft all-netherrack world with any automated mining machine will be enough, else the nether itself works well
-magma cream comes from magical crops as well
-blaze rod from some crops, though my stockpile came from spawners. MFR autospawner + Autonomous activators work well, add a Bedrock sword on them for good measure. That was my first setup, now i'm going for some total overkill with 4 lasers, 6 railguns, 14 arrow guns and 5 air pressure guns blasting a single room with spawners... but that's obviously not a good starter setup lol
-ethanol comes from two fermenters running 24/24, leaves and sugar come from MFR farms

I have my fractiona-something unit powered with a pneumatic engine and CVT (full speed) sending the fuel to two max size railcraft steel tanks, with a gate set to "tank empty" so that whenever the internal tank is empty it sends a redstone signal to the engine to make it run for a second or something, enough to fill 5 or 6 buckets.

Needless to say, i have yet to see my tanks empty at all and i'm sitting on about 500K to 1 million of all the above materials as i realized that Jet Fuel isn't that easy to spend efficiently and the gas turbines are dangerous enough that i always prefer to fit some basic engine rather than arrange a ~7blocks deadzone behind them to make sure nobody gets caught into the turbine.

So don't go crazy on the materials :p
