Now what would this block be???

I'm doing a wild guess and say that that is a grass block you're holding.

It's going to be a modular system for giving the player buffs like regeneration, flight, speed, night vision, ... Also prevent mob spawning (like the magnum torch). Every extra module will eat more power of course. Radius of effect will be configurable.
Ah. Sort of makes sense... From the name, I would've guessed either a biome changer or some sort of weather controller, perhaps with a limited area of effect (It's raining everywhere BUT my house!).

I know RotaryCraft has some kind of potion aerosolizer... but it eats potions, not just power.

Hmm... Can your new machine do direct healing/damage? Also, does it do the opposite to undead, like vanilla healing/harm potions, or does it treat everything the same way?

I was planning on having it only affect players for now (similar to the vanilla beacon system).

I was actually thinking it was perhaps a device to either stop or start rain.

Surviving an unpowered RFTools dimension using the new upcoming Phased Field Generator item:

DDW0Jnr.png

Note that in addition to the unnatural darkness in the dimension you'll also get hunger, slowness and mining fatigue.
And also the RF charge of the Phased Field Generator runs out quickly so be sure to make haste while you still have power in the item!

Hey.
So Im playing on a server that is running Resonant Rise 3, and I've been toying around with this mod. I wanted a void world to build my base and the only issue is... whenever I try to make a void world, with no other dimlits other than the terrain void one and it makes some random world that is not a void world. No idea what I did wrong worked in single player.

If you're on a server with an older version of RFTools, this *might* be because the server and your client have different dimlets.cfg files. Did you or your server admin ever delete or edit this file, to your knowledge? This was fixed in a relatively recent build, so updating RFTools might fix it.

And of course Gideon's the first person to like the post.

I assume that the field generator lasts longer in dimensions that use more power? Looks neat in any case. Certainly handy for the people who want to cut themselves off from the Overworld entirely by moving the Dimension Builder into the dimension itself.

Also, is the "unnatural darkness" a slightly less intense version of Blindness, or does it just set the skylight level to zero? I'm guessing the former, but it's hard to tell from that screenshot with only one light source near you.

As someone else already told you (get it? :) ) this is caused by a not up-to-date version of your dimlets.cfg compared to the server version. Copying the dimlets.cfg from the server to your client will fix it. In recent versions of RFTools this is no longer a problem but RR3 is a bit behind.

No the field generator lasts just as long in any dimension. It is a personal protection field against the hazards of a dimension that has no power. It doesn't matter how much power the dimension consumes since it is no longer consuming anyhing anyway. The field generator works by 'phasing' you slightly so you are only partially in the dimension (pseudo-scientific talk :) )

The unnatural darkness is a feature that is already there. It is just a global dimming of the light values for sky and ground and is not related to blindness.

Ok, I guess that makes sense... I had guessed that it acted as some kind of backup power source for the dimension. One foot in the world, one foot in the AEther, I suppose?

Hmm... does the "depowered protective assistant system" (really, you need something with a better acronym than PFG) consume any energy if the dimension is powered, and does it have to be on the hotbar to work?

That advice isn't that different from "Always carry a return linking book" -- you're recommending all of a return linking book, a "stay in the dimension" tool, and a tool to give you a warning/status/how long you can stay. Your system might be more involved for safe travel than Xcw's.

Hey there been messing around with your mod, i am loving it
I like the whole tech based RF using for stuff like dimensions

Sry for the bad English, but would like suggest the following silly idea :
* enderchest and pouch using RF and maybe some enderpearls /molten ender
*A block like random things player interface also using RF

Three essential items to bring along with you when exploring RFTools dimnnsions:
  • A dimension monitor
  • A fully charged phased field generator
  • A fully charged porter pointing to a safe receiver
PTHdwtZ.png
So you've added a handheld matter transmitter? Cool!

Does it work the same way as Following Mystcraft books, i.e. it stays in your inventory when you use it? I assume so, since you already have the full-block transmitter that stays behind.

Well first, all of these three items are optional. Especially the field generator since if you set anything up right (chunkloaded the dimension builder and gave it power) you *should* not run out of power.

And no, if the dimension is powered it doesn't consume energy. It automatically activates as soon as the dimension is at power level 0.

It must be in your hotbart too. Dropping it or simply moving it to another hotbar slot while the dimension is out of power is instant death!

The other two items don't have to be in your hotbar although the porter has to be before you can use it.
