This has just been bugging me so much. When I log on to play some Infinity, I want to get into Ars Magica 2. Then I remember, Infinity doesn't have it! I want to play Infinity, but this makes me not want to play Infinity at the same time. So please, the only thing I request, is that you add Ars Magica 2. I will even link you below.

Ars Magica 2 LINK: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...magica-2-version-1-4-0-008-updated-february-6

Why Add It?
I think you should add this to Infinity because it fits right into the magic part of Infinity. You have the big names like Thaumcraft and Botania, Ars Magica 2 fits rights in. There are a few cool magic mods you can find in Infinity. None really have super abilities like Ars Magica though. It adds many new abilities and powers for the player to use. I am not going to discuss it, but basically, in short, it adds many magical abilities to the game that no other mod can supply. Also, it would make me more happy with the mod pack. Finally, you are going to love this one. You ready? It is the easiest mod to get permissions for. Yay! Seriously though, it is extremely easy to get permission to use this mod, they have a 3 step written tutorial that is a few sentences long.

Your Guidelines to Easy Acceptance.
1. Unique: Totally, this mod offers features that no pack or mod has ever been able to supply.
2. Resource friendly: Yep, easy peasy lemon squeezy.
3. Somewhat balanced: Cross out Somewhat and you can easily write Extremely.
4. Updated regularly: Completely acceptable update times always offering new amazing features.
5. SMP compatible: Check! Is that all your guidelines got?

Still not convinced? Ask Direwolf20 his opinion, because even he spotlighted it in 3 whole parts! He not only did a spotlight, but an entire Lets Play of Ars Magica! Go search it up if you don't believe me!

Thanks!

P.S. Before some Staff takes this down for creating a new thread for a mod suggestion, take a quick look at all your threads made for mod suggestion. They are all locked now because they are outdated. Trust me, I looked for a good bit looking for one created by a staff, there are no more that aren't locked. Therefore, I thought the only thing left was to create a new thread.

You know you can easily add it yourself?
Yes, I do know this.
Two things though.
1. I play on a server with my friends, I asked a few of them to add it and make sure everything is fine and they can do it. A few of them said they have watched tutorials and still can't get it to work. Therefore, I wouldn't be able to add it to the server without losing a few people, which I would never do.

2. I also watch YouTubers play Infinity (Hermitcraft as example) and would like to see them get into it.

They can't manage to drag&drop a single file into another folder? I wonder how they managed to get the launcher to install the modpack lol

They could do that part. They aren't that dumb, I hope not at least. Haha. I believe it just crashed their game or something. Something along those lines. It was either the crashing or it didn't load. Different for the few that had the problem. Stop jumping to conclusions would you.

Trust me, the mod devs know about Ars Magica. But they cannot add every single mod into the pack. Some mods have to be left out. The pack is already large and unwieldy for some people. Every modpack is made with a vision of direction and compromise of which mods to add. If you are not satisfied with which mods are added, then add them your self or perhaps try another pack that is more in line with your priorities.

The reason threads like this get locked is because they don't serve a purpose and just serve to agitate well-meaning people. By the time a pack is publicly announced the mod lists are pretty well nailed down; basically, unless a pack author/coordinator is specifically requesting suggestions for additions, it's not going to happen.

The reasons are manifold:
  • A lot of work goes into these packs pre-release that can get thrown out of whack by arbitrary last second additions. The pack development process isn't "throw together a list of mods and slap a name on it", and decisions on the list have already been made with criteria in mind.
  • If they add what you want, why won't they add what player X and player Y and player Z want? Where does it end? At that point Infinity becomes a description of the system requirements of the pack, if all these suggestions were taken.
  • On the subject of LPs and the like, it can be seriously disruptive to just throw in mods willy-nilly in the midst of a world like that. Changes to the mod list tend to reflect either minor tweaks or the addition of awaited content (e.g. Thermal Dynamics wasn't out at the initial release, but it has always been intended to be included so when it was released it was added).
  • On the subject of Ars Magica 2 itself, that mod represents about the most problematic kind of mod to add to a pack in progress that there is. It has content across the spectrum and all kinds of places for interaction to go awry. Remember, folks, when you add a mod to a pack, it isn't just about what it brings, but what it does to the rest of the mods already in the pack. The larger the pack, the more exponential the amount of cross-checking gets. Even more so when you have a content-spanning mod like Ars that touches on pretty much every system in Minecraft with something.
With that all said (and that's not even all to say, but at this point it's more than enough), there's no room to go back-and-forth on this, because unless the people in charge of the pack want something, it isn't getting in there, and we don't encourage badgering for content by humoring these threads because, as mentioned, they never end well. The pack team reads the forums and, who knows, maybe the stars align and they do decide to make the addition; however, more threads like this aren't going to be the determining factor on that.

And so, we're now locked.
