What makes you rage quit a world? What stops you from rage quitting a world no matter how horrible whatever happened was? For me I will rage quit because:
Horrible seed
No diamonds anywhere
Lava killing me and my most important things
Creepers blowing up my base

Things that make me not rage quit a world:
Great seed
Tons of resources
Beautiful base
LP world
Server

Rage quit used to mean having what amounted to a temper tantrum and leaving a group in an online game. It's always sad to see poignant expressions lose their meaning. I saw a post a while back from some kid and his brother stating they "rage quit" Minecraft when they heard the new enderman aggro noise for the first time. What they really meant to say is that they dumped to desktop like sissies because the scary, scary noise was too much for them, but when we butcher a language, details are the first things to get overlooked.

Agreed, but since the phrase has changed with time I decided to use it, as it works for the situation TODAY. A few months ago, probably not, but early summer of 2013, it means going mega aggro and quitting, which seems like what "rage" and "quit" would mean when they go together. Also, what a bunch of damn pussies, to quit a game due to one sound that isn't even that bad when you get used to it. Yes, it's terrifying, but certainly not worth quitting an entire game because of. I have a phobia of bats, and when I first updated to (what was it, 1.4?), it scared the living hell out of me when I first when mining. Eventually I became used to the sound and movement. Occasionally it still makes me lose my shit, but usually not, and I usually place enough torches that bats don't spawn.

Oh kay...

Bad seed
Spawning in weird places
RNG not treating me well
Snow everywhere
Spawn in a ocean with no land in any direction
Spawn has too many chickens
Too many pigs
Too many cows(harder the the others to me)
No open caves nearby
Spawn chest(if in use) sucks
Not enough room to build near spawn without terraforming
Ores found underground are sparse and shitty
Too many Ravines near spawn(the closer they are, the more I hate them)
Nether forts are too far away
No villages to Plunder and Trade with
Shitty villager selection in said villages
No one is buying in villages
And usually it's just I don't like the look of a map.

Most of those I can relate to. The too many pigs, chickens, and cows I do not understand. So much meat! Just destroy the entire population of other creatures in your world and have food until the end!

I start on peaceful and my game is really slow when starting up. Animals thus piss me off when starting off.
And it's not small amounts of noise either. It's like 30 seconds of built up sounds waiting to be released into my headphones to make my ears bleed.

I never "rage quit." I calmly deduce that the venture will no longer be profitable.

That's a tiny lie. Holding aggro on pigmen or falling in lava can make me rage quit with much swearing. In short, parts of the nether.

I rage quit when I spawned in a new hardcore world, made my first step forwards, and fell into quicksand. or to be more precise, the world got deleted and I was angry, but I was also laughing and crying at the same time, so hard that my sides hurt.

normally I (rage) quit a world when either I have no motivation to keep it going, which can happen anytime, when I want to change my way of playing (a different mode, or a change-up of mods) or as you mentioned, dying in lava and losing all your stuff, or when you die in a spot where it's impossible to get your stuff back. I played with /gamerule keepInventory true for a while, but it was just too easy and I started using it as a quick way to get back home.

I might decide "fuck this shit" and delete the map, but actually rage and quit? Hardly. I'm too mellow to rage at Minecraft. Maybe at the RNG now and then, but the RNG and I have a special relationship. Not like a mommy and a daddy, but more like Jay and Silent Bob.

I mean, my drink of choice is a good orange pekoe black tea with cream and sugar. This is not a angry beverage. This is a very relaxing beverage.
Heck, I forgot the cream/milk this cup. Found out it's good without it anyway.

The thing that has brought me closest to rage quitting recently has been twilight forest portals. Specifically the fact that they can be used by mobs, and are susceptible to the destruction of their borders. I've lost 4 so far because a creeper wandered through the overworld side, and blew up as soon as the world loaded around me. I'll admit that it took me a while to encase either end of the portals in houses, but it's still damn annoying.

I don't rage quit, I just leave but the most common things causing me to find another server are:

Dense ore worlds - so pointless and I hate them, why play GT and just give yourself more ore easier.
Banning things cos the server admin hasn't a clue.
Constant spamming of server messages to a point where I may as well turn chat off.

That's language for you, never think you own it. Use words how you want, that's why they exist. Language is never 'butchered' it is organic and is always changing.

Having said that, it is annoying how they say Rage Quit over that though! Rage quitting is falling into lava for the 3rd time that play session and having remade your powersuit 3 times, seeing the 'LOL!'s filling the chat from your friends and just hitting Esc.
