I love this mod!

With this mod, I'm actually running out of Restone. Having a hard time finding resources in my start area, so it's really forcing me to not be wasteful with my resources and plan the best setups of machines and conduits.

Redstone has always been a resource that I've always had overflowing with no use for it, I'm glad that this is not the case now (until I start raping the ground with quarries...)

I primarily enjoy it because it makes automated ore processing extremely easy, and you get bonus ores in addition to double ores.

Right now I have a setup of a Chest with an Autarchic Gate feeding a Pulverizer, an Induction Smelter fed by a Igneous Extruder/Pulverizer making sand, which processing the double-ores. Then there's a Powered furnace below the Pulverizer that processes the bonus ores (so there's no back-log). Both the Powered furnace and the Induction Smelter feed into a chest.

Currently I void-pipe the byproducts (normal slag and gravel from the Igneous Extruder/Pulverizer sand generator), using a diamond pipe sorter, but I can save them if I find a use for them.

The automatic movement system I can't love enough. No redstone pump required for moving things out of machines.

That and Tin doesn't look like Iridium.

Why use the gate? The machines pull from adjacent inventories on their own if you set them up with the blue colored input/output on that face.

Last time I tried hooking up an eletric engine to the Thermal Expansion machine it just sucked all the power even when the machine were not working and nothing the people told me here to fix that was as simple as just going back to Industrial Craft. If you have an idea I'd be glad to hear it, I loved the concept of input/output options.

A structure pipe with a gate on it could detect when the machine needs energy, and output a signal to start the engine when necessary.

I tried that (chest on top of a pulverizer, blue input on top side) and it wasn't pulling items in to be pulverized.

TE machines don't "suck" materials, they just automatically output. Your best bet is either a hopper or (my prefered method: ) a relay

I dunno I use a railcart with item unloaders to feed my pulverizer and item loaders to load another cart when the furnace is done smelting the powder. Works great :D

I'm in Beta A still, so maybe the newer TE fixed it. But in the Beta A at least, machines can't suck. Hence the pump. I've tried every combination. Chest adjacent. Chest - Wooden Pipe - Machine. Chest - Wood - Stone - Machine. None work.

Fortunately, an Autarchic gate on slow mode pumps at exactly the same rate a Pulverizer processes ores. Somehow I think that was by design.

In general, TE machines do not need power to output, but you need to use a redstone engine (for instance) to input items through the pipes. While this allows you to interconnect the machines easily - for instance, linking an igneous extruder to a magma crucible, or a pulverizer to an induction furnace - it does mean you need some way to get items into the pipes.

As for the electric engine, I think the problem there is that it's a Forestry engine, not a TE engine - those ones tend to be less intelligent. It's the magmatic and steam engines which turn off automatically, I think - in order to "give it brains", you'll probably want BC gates, like people have said. (And the intelligent engines have to be linked either directly or via conduits, or they won't know to turn off.)

Little confused here.... I used to be able to use the blue to pull items automatically, but it seems that that doesn't work anymore...
