How many Pumps do I need to drain it and will the carts go through the standard Obsidian Portal?

I assume you make a linking book in the nether and put it in a recepticle on the mystcraft portal in the overworld

Your not getting more details from me atm since i am on my phone

OK, made the portal using crystal in my test world and for some strange reason, when I use one of the portals, I don't go through the other, I uses the place where I had the obsidian portal. What am I doing wrong?

The trick is to not place the exits on the portals, your exits of the portals can be at different spots, for example, let
your portal directly lead onto a booster track that is right next to a block, that is powered, so your cart gets accelerated.

I had to set the Mystcraft Overworld Portal to the Nether, go to the Nether with an Overworld Llink Book and when I tried using the Mystcraft Portal to go back to the Overworld, I stayed in the Nether. I had to make multiple books and kill myself sever times in lava just to sync up both portals.

You're making it harder than you need to,
you don't need to synch up portals, actually, don't ever link INTO a portal, link somewhere a few blocks away from it

Here are two screenshots of a setup I've used.

2012-12-05_16.52.45.jpg 2012-12-05_16.52.56.jpg

you create the linking books while standing on the portal targets, to create the linking book you insert into portal 2, you stand on the portal 2 target, and create it.

OK, that's what I didn't do right. I wasn't standing on the portal area, was away from it. Thanks.

No problemo, good luck with your setup, ours is doing quite well

I suggest you set your item loader/liquid loader to only send the cart away when it's full etc.

use world anchors to keep both sides loaded.

Sorry, World Anchors? I'm new to this. Also...where do I find the crystals to make the mystcraft portals? Are they in the Overworlds?

You will have to generate random worlds till you find a world that has crystals in them.
General info on that you can get by googling mystcraft.

World Anchors are blocks you can craft, they are part of railcraft and keep an area around them loaded, so, stuff like pumps, generators etc. still can continue running, even when no one is around.

per 9 world chunks. It keeps a 3x3 grid of chunks around itself loaded. If you press F7 (i belive that is the default) after you have placed the anchor you will see what chunks it will keep loaded

You don't need to go to the nether for lava, you know that right?

You can create an endless supply of lava pretty easily now....

Except you need to go to the nether for the netherrack so you're still going to the nether for lava, just in a different form.

Yeah but you don't need a chunk loader and to put extra load on a server to gather nether rack ;) anyway each to their own I guess.
