Since the inclusion of the Flat Bedrock mod, it is no longer possible to trap and kill this thing. Has anyone figured out how to effectively farm this for the Ultimate Pack (or any other)?

MFFS instantly kills the wither.

Warded stone blocks be used as a substitute for bedrock (They break but they're replaced instantly)

You can also use warded stone/glass, with a cart dispenser, some minecarts, some track, and some powered track. This is how I will be doing it in my Let's Play to get the Thaumaturges Wand (eventually)

Do you have a video of this set-up? I tried the blocks for a Nuclear Reactor, but it broke through them.

He didn't escape until I opened up a 1x1 hole in the top.

3 layers of warded stone. There's only a 3x3x3 cube in the center of free space for him to live in.

No clue what you could do with him once you have him trapped though since you can't really fight him. You could try opening a 1x1 hole in the sides instead of the middle, he might be 1x1 vertically but he's much larger than that horizontally.

Install fighting turtles, have them drop any drops in a ender chest.

You know what they say, all toasters toast toast.

You can fly, shoot super arrows, and lay about with unstoppable lasers and plasma cannons.

Why do you need to trap the wither? Beat him to death and laugh as he rages against your impervious armor. He is a midgame boss. Seriously, nether stars are not really something that you need auto-farm unless I guess you're using them for IC2 power.[DOUBLEPOST=1371883891][/DOUBLEPOST]

You've got ars in play. Make a spell to kill him that fits in a caster. :)

Sorry, I couldn't the rest of the thread. I'm stuck at the 3778 where your level is supposed to be...

Using Mindcrack 8.1, I put an arena in the center of my base. IIRC (not at computer for a couple days), it was 9*9*6 made of warded stone, one door, and warded glass that I will get to shortly. My next iteration would be an entirely warded glass ceiling with a wrath lamp 10+ blocks above the center.

After the basic building, I set the door one block off center, and around the door inside I built an alcove one block in, three high, and carried that to the corner where I left it open. The alcove was made of warded glass.

Not having fought the wither, my plan was to build and spawn in the far back corner, run to the alcove, then fight with a safe place to retreat to. What happened was the wither pursued to the alcove, couldn't hit me, and I was able to kill him without much issue. Three stars in about five minutes.

Go to the TF, find a Naga and a Maze, drop a portal within the bedrock "case" of the bottom layer of the maze, and then drop the other portal under the naga.

Let the Naga work it's block breaking magic, and you now have placeable bedrock blocks.

What type of portal are you talking about?
