Hello everyone, before I start I want to apologize if I post this in the wrong forum section. I don't really know where to ask server related questions.

So I'd like to rent a server from creeperhost to play FTB. I am totally not experienced with it since it's the first time I'm doing this. When I look at the list of services it says the "Spider" servers are ideal for FTB.
My problem is that I just want to rent a server for a very small group of friends so that we can just have fun without any lag and what not (let's say a maximum of 5 people or even 4).

My question is: Can I use a cheaper package that can handle FTB without a problem?

Thanks for reading everyone, help will be much appreciated.

Well what you can do is you can rent a VPS and install the FTB pack of your choice onto it and run it that way.

If you're going to be having 4-5 active people on it I'd shoot for about 2-4 gigs of ram and a dual core sitting around 3 ghz. You're looking to spend anywhere from 20-40 a month.

Edit: Maybe a dual core at 3 ghz is a bit much. You could probably get away with a single at 2.5ghz. Though 2-4GB of ram is absolutely necessary, especially for ftb.

Also make sure you get SSD for your memory that way you can take advantage of virtual page memory.

Edit2: Heres a good VPS hoster https://www.digitalocean.com/pricing/

Your looking at about 2GB-3GB on a E3v2 or better CPU server, and whatever host you want to use make sure you actually read the TOS.

Make sure you have exclusive usage of up to 2 cores at all times. I know cheaper VPS providers limit you to 1 exclusive core and you can't max it out for more than a certain amount of time.
