Quarry question

The problem of unmined towers of blocks in the nether is a known problem. It has something to do with the height map from what I've read.

Apparently there is a work around that involves placing a layer of blocks above the quarry and then removing them. I've tried it and could never get it to work but others have reported success. I just use an arcane bore or IC2 miner in the nether now, it's less of a headache.

Will liquids other than water turn lava into obsidian? If so, will they flow or evaporate in the Nether?

They will make obsidian, they will flow, and they will not evaporate, but the quarry will destroy the source block. You can also place water if you make it with UU-Matter.

I usually place my source block just under the quarry frame at the edge of the hole. It may be time to "...use more honey, find out what she knows!"
