Any ideas? It's just sailing through most of the chunks. Those walls are on chunk boundaries.

*Edit* Replacing the quarry and chunkloading the area has made no difference, it's still skipping over the chunks that it skipped the first time.

A quarry will not recognise most custom blocks and from what I can make out that's tainted soil on top of the netherrack which a quarry most likely wont dig.

But the three chunks that have been excavated were covered in tainted soil as well, and it's dug up all that.

Hm, Mining Laser on explosive mode does nothing to tainted soil as well.

Lambert had this issue on the last RR map. I don't know if there ever was a solution, but I'll ask him

If you place another block (cobble/netherrack/etc) on top of any column that it isn't excavating, the quarry will re-assess, and it will start to process them.

Not sure why certain blocks are different, I've also seen a few BoP (Biomes O'Plenty) issues as well, including the quarry trying to mine the BoP liquids, it also avoided a block of soil that had a puddle on it.

i mostlry see the quarry-skipping issue with obsidian ive created after the quarry exposed a lava pit, and the upper fencepost on the abandoned mineshaft supports. restarting the world fixes the obsidian, but not the fenceposts, i have to do those manually.

Since the objective is to get some cobalt and ardite, I don't mind that it is leaving most of the tainted soil and netherrack in place. The drilling arm does move around diagonally in the section that is being "skipped", that's what the holes in the wall are I guess, probably where some nether ores were found.

I have been having the same issues, that it leaves some kind of 'pillars' all over the place. Haven't been able to solve it unfortunately. It almost looks like some kind of rounding error where it just skips certain spots.

I had this in my last world, it seemed to be skipping blocks as if they had lava flowing over them, which in some cases was the case but in others it wasn't, still got plenty of nether materials though so it was all good.

I think something is generating ghost blocks on top of tainted soil, something invisible. The quarry is treating them like lava. If I go around placing gravel over the areas that it is skipping, then the quarry drill head will come up and drill down the column that I covered.

Also, the quarry head came over and picked up the liquid redstone source block that I was using to get rid of lava lakes. I haven't checked to see if the redstone ended up in my AE system or not as it was late last night.

I am currently having the issue where random sections are mined out, but nothing else. For me it's a top down issue though, where if it mines a block, it will mine all the way down with it. I fix it by making the system check the blocks again. To do this I just place any block, normally netherack or tainted soil, over the spots it isn't being dug and wait for the system to finish clearing out that level and reasses everything.

My solution to this was using uu matter to create still water and placing it over the affected blocks and allowing it to flow. The quarry then mined those blocks. It was a very messy process and if I did it again, I'd have the water set up to begin with so that I didn't have to use quite so much of it.

I didn't think to try that. I had tried sewage and sludge before, but the quarry kept mining it up.

I have that same problem with the quarry missing obsidian in the overworld. I started the quarry with one source block of still water and the water covers the excavation site now to turn lava into obsidian, but the quarry still misses those blocks. Restarting the game helps, but it's a Band-Ade solution as the problem reoccurs.
