Problem creating a FTB server

so, let me start by saying i'm not sure if this is the place to put this thread, since i've just created this account. there is probably a lot of this, but i'm trying to create a server to play with my friends, who live in the same city as me. i download the server pack from the launcher (we're trying to play Direwolf20 modpack), run, config the server.properties, then run again. but it always gives us the message "can't reach the server". we've tried in every computer we have, but it always gives the same message. what can i do to fix it?

You have to go into your router and forward whatever port you are using (default is 25565) to the local ipv4 of that computer.
