Problem breeding bees

Hi there!
So there i am busy breeding bees in the nether, sinister fine fiendish fine, demonic not so fine! The sinister and fiendish when breed together will not mutate into a demonic bee, 4 hours with a nova frame and nothing, all i keep getting are sinister, fiendish and sinister fiendish hybirds.

I've tried moving my apiary to another part of the nether with no luck, i'm in a right pickle here. Everything should be fine, I've breed them before so i don't understand why this time they aren't mutating.

This isn't the only line i'm having problems with but i figger what works for this will also work on the other lines :D

If anyone has any insight or anything i could try i would really appreciate it, thanks.

I've never used nova frames on 'em. Maybe that's got something to do with it? Might somehow prevent the game from tracking that the bees are in the right biome if they die too fast. Are the other mutations you're having trouble with also biome dependant? Very few are...

Another shot in the dark is flower type. If you've changed it, try changing it back, or simply planting some netherwart around anyway.

That was something i was hoping for, they might die quickly before noticing its in the wrong biome, but no, it pops up hostile environment. So you still need to be in the right biome with using them.

The other ones that wont mutate are the Heroic, Austere, Farmed, the Volcanic line wont even start mutating into the angry. I always make sure i'm in the right biome if needed, found a great page with the temperatures of the biome's, helps alot!
I'll dig up the netherwart and try replacing again.
{using nova frames as the server was reset and lost all my bees so using the frames to breed them back quickly}

Heroic I know need a true vanilla Forest biome as well as the Farmed needed vanilla Plains.

Seems like the biome restriction is the common theme. Perhaps trying with just soul frames.

As much as I agree... some people draw the line in weird places, and the line they draw is rarely a straight one.
I, for instance, will give myself a pump(BC), some liquducts, a energy cell, and a Quantum Tank if I encounter a oil well near either my spawn or my home, and drain that sucker dry.
But I would never give myself oil. Nor lava, or any real "fuel source". If I haven't found it in game, or earned it somehow, I don't even pretend I can have it for free.

If I am making a test build, I might do so, but I rarely test my builds.

I don't see it as cheating, the server got reset lost everything and they gave creative to the people who were there before to get their stuff back, i never had those things to begin with so didn't take them. We are a small community so there's a good level of trust also the slash give princess and drone command doesn't work or that would of happened ^^

Interesting! Sounds like you've found a bug that indicates biome requirements are incorrectly handled when using nova frames. If you can isolate it and you're sure this is what's happening, it'd be worthwhile to make a bug report to the appropriate place. Nova frames are an ExtraBees thing, right? Binnie should know about this.

I wouldn't even know where to begin with something like that. If it means getting into the place where its lines of gobbly goop then i can't do it :(

Willo, don't worry, Thems doesn't mean looking at the actual code. He's just saying that if you can get those circumstances to happen again - ie, start a creative world and do what you did to end up unable to acquire Demonic bees - then that will be enough to send altert to whichever modder does Nether bees (Sengir? Or is it an expansion?) that there's a bug with Nova frames. But if it's too much work, or you're not confident you'll be able to reproduce that problem, then don't worry about it

That's not too much work at all ^^ i can do that easily, and if it happens again and there is a bug it will help others in my situation :)

According to FTBwiki.org, Nova Frame should set mutation chance to 100%. If I understand this correctly, 100% would mean that if a mutation can occur, then it will - every time - when using this frame. I too am not seeing this, and it isn't just related to biome-specific mutations. Cultivated + Noble should equal Majestic no matter what biome I'm in [as long as the bees can work there ofc]. Using a Nova Frame, I'm seeing zero Majestic mutations...whereas 3x Soul Frames work.

seems like its just a problem with bees in the 1.5 versions, had several different combinations refuse to mutate even while using mutator apiary blocks that should have increased the chance well over 100%

Nova frames might not allow the biome-specific mutate function to run or otherwise interfere with it. In other words, it may cut (insert itself) into the mutation process before the biome check can be done.

However, I'm almost certain Oblivion frames can be used. I had a few of those my last world and bred several species of bees that required biomes. Alveary with 1 Oblivion + 1 Mutator with Uranium ore (not the ingot) works great.

I haven't tried 1.6.x yet, but am getting there. Just about to build 1st Alveary.
