Ok I finally manage to get so time free for my week-end and obvious play Minecraft... It's been a long time, I haven't yet try TE3 in production.

So for this week-end to be perfect I plan my developement to be more efficient, but I have do have some question...

Here I stop to speak of my life and start with real deal. Every thing is for 1.6.4 mods with lastest devellopement version if possible.

1. I read here that Twilight Forest "Sickly Oak Sappling" are faster than vanilla to mature ( some say 20x ). Is that true ? And if yes, does Lily Pad of fertility give a boost to that ?

Plan is to make a MFR tree farm without fertilazer, for charcoal and biomass. I may replace with Magic Tree from BOP if it's not a too big difference.

2. I plan to set home in a Sacred Spring biome from BOP, is it a "forest" biome for bees and trees breeding ?

3.What is the best easy way to make seed oil with MFR ? I plan Melon/Pumkin + lily pad of fertility if an efficient way ( Vanilla minecraft for rapid grow placement: http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/File:Melon_Rapid-Harvest_Grid.png or http://minecraft.gamepedia.com/File:Pumpkin_Farm_Grid_4.png )

Thank for those who read this :)

Hi,
1 The sickly oak saplings do grow faster than normal oaks so yes they are a good choice, however they are not very big so Sakura may be better because they have a similar growth rate but are larger. The lily pad of fertility should speed up the growth as long as it recognises the saplings so it would be useful.
2 I believe biomes' plenty biomes are in the biome dictionary so yes sacred springs will be classed as a certain type of biome, probably forest.
3 The easiest way to make seed oil with MFR is probably as you said, or if you want to breed trees you can use the fruit picker on walnut or chestnut trees.

I would suggest using fertilizer if you want to minimise the size of your farm but it's your choice :)

But Sakura does have a chance to spawn redwood ?

For tree breeding this will be later in game, the point is to build friday night, let run night, then I have seed oil and charcoal bootstrapped.

Plus size is not a problem, I always use 1 chunk from bedrock to sea level per sector, but this time I think I will be less compact and more early game friendly.

Thanks for your answer

I've never heard about Sakura turning into redwood but they can grow so big and fast that a harvester might struggle to keep up.

Sounds like a good idea to let it run overnight. Are you on a server or do you have another method of AFKing?

I could run a server but my big PC isn't connected to internet and i'm lazy so I just open to LAN and set to PEACEFULL.

The sakura to redwood bug is fixed, or so I've heard. But back in unleashed 1.1.3, they do have a chance to somehow mutate into a gigantic redwood tree that will totally decimate your treefarm and your base too if it is near the farm.

As for the harvesting speed issue, I have my sakura cherry tree farm (9x9) handled by two harvesters upgraded to handle 9x9 area.

Preparation for this Week-End :)

Get a warm blanket and hope that I don't have to go out, because I hate driving around when the streets are frozen :b

For MFR treefarms I like Ghostwood from Natura (Nether Tree) a single 3x3 can provide enough wood\saplings without fertilizer to keep a couple of max size boilers happy (in 1.5.2, fuel values have changed and my 1.6.4 pack does not include Railcraft so no idea if that is still the case)

Sacred Springs is a Warm\Damp biome or maybe a Warm\Normal biome in any case it isn't a normal\normal biome.

I always liked Golems for farming personally, just love seeing the little guys running around doing my bidding (there is also the fact that they do not require power of any sort and with the right upgrades (speed on the gatherers and intelligence on the harvesters) and a large enough farm, in my case 23x24 or so and four harvest\four gather, they outperform almost any other farming method).

Yes, exactly. The industrial tree and crop farms are lacking in aesthetics and continuity. IMHO, Golems seem more "Minecrafty". They are also very productive in terms of wood and saplings both.

Steves Carts 2 (SC2) wins 2nd place, in my book, for most believable tree farm. There's at least a woodcutter on the front of the cart and it has to visit each tree.
