Right now im using hobbyist steam engines to power them, but what would be the next upgrade to make them go faster?

Boy, here's some advice.
We have a simple questions thread. For small, simple questions, much like this one. But that's not what you're after here, you seem to want answers sooner then we care to post them. You didn't even wait half an hour before bumping this thread. No one had replied, no one must have seen it, right? I just noticed this thread all of five minutes ago. I can guess why perhaps you're not getting answers, but such speculation is beyond my purpose here.
Ask your small and easy questions Here, and be prepared to wait a long time, as this is not, say, a chat program, where bumping gets our attention. It pushes threads to the first page, when they are still waiting for info that they seem to lack.
But to answer your question, your next step is to tell us what mod pack you are using, in full name, Minecraft edition of the pack for clarity sake, and hope someone cares enough to answer your inane question that someone who had done a modicum of research themselves would have within 5 minutes.

I do agree with YX, people help out of their own time usually without even being thanked. However I will point you in the right direction read up on one of the many FTB wikis 99% of typical questions are answered in wikis just takes time and reading.
