Haven't tried it myself but I know that nether ores used to have a config option to register recipes for the macerator, is the pulverizer still broken when that is disabled?

as for the many steps: you can automate it if you want. and the power options is something I have no knowledge off, it is some time ago since I used any of its options. they increased since ic2 that is something I know for sure.
They added the new wind turbine... that's about it for better power gen. It basically is still all under 10eu/t for any "passive" generator

they also included many ways to get heat and a few ways to change the heat to energy. If I remember correctly you can now make and use steam in basic industrial craft

Meh, the mod still lost its charm in my honest opinion.

And I feel they are trying too hard to find it again. Same goes for Factorization. They are both mods that were very popular for one reason, or another, and now that 90% of everything those mods were useful for has been done in other mods with more features/other mod interactions, they are sidelined now... and the mod devs are doing a lot to try and get them back on the field, but in doing so have twisted their ankles.

Factorization was popular once? As far as I know it was only used for wrath lamps and barrels and sometimes for the router. However I think that factorization still has potential, those ancient sentinels for example are things I have not yet seen, now if only they would get a good AI instead of just dancing.

As for industrial craft I just hope they get a better energy system soon as right now it seems to be just rf.

edit: I think we either need to agree to disagree (again) or take it somewhere else to then eventually agree to disagree

Eu came first, Eu has loss over distance... It's just been made simpler as of late.
But IC3 needs to do a lot to make it less stupid, adding more crafting stages/processing stages =/= fun IMO.
If there were different things for different types of ores (e.g. iron needs a low temp furnace, gold needs medium, etc.) and better ways to speed up machines (think advanced machines mod)... then MAYBE it would be unique and worth using. But right now IC3 seems to be torn between 3 ideals:
1) IC2 - Keeping it pure (as in, how IC2 was when it first came out)
2) Gregtech - Gregging up IC2
3) Simplicity - Everyone is getting used to simple mods (RF mods), so they don't want to annoy new users who entered into the RF age as their first modded experiences.

2 and 3 conflict. 1 and 3 conflict. 1 was fine at the time, but lack the features needed to compete with the RF tech mods of today. 2 was always something that divided people. And 3... well... I won't talk about that.

as I already said, lets either agree to disagree or take it somewhere else
