Is it possible to remove the wooden block from a node? I had an 'accident' where my bedrock pickaxe chopped down a bit too many trees and now there are floating pieces of wood containing nodes. I don't want to remove the nodes but the pieces of wood are a bit ugly. Is there any way to remove that without breaking the node?

Thanks,

You could move the silverwood blocks to another location with a Focus of Dislocation (Thaumic Tinkerer) or maybe any old silktouch pick, although this might just smash the node.

Alternatively, capturing the node in a jar might destroy the wood, but keep the node. But, I haven't actually tested any of these solutions. I'd say Dislocation is your best bet, though.

Well, jar'ing it removes the wood, but might downgrade the node. There is no way to remove the wood in place without breaking it afaik.

sadly there's no way except either jarring the node, or destroying the block/node
I really wished the axe of the stream would be able to chop down a silverwood tree but keep the nodes intact, sadly that's not the case

Silverwoods used to be fire resistant, I remember many a tree spawning next to volcanoes and lava running over them with no harm.

What actually happens if you light the wood on fire?
In my badly outdated version of Thaumcraft in MC 1.6.4, silverwood (as well as greatwood, witchwood from Ars Magica, all their leaves, and probably all the nether trees from Natura) is not flammable. I dobut Azanor would've changed this, so most likely nothing.

Wait, so if I cut those Silverwoods down, the nodes stay with the wood blocks and don't remain in place where they were? That's not how I remember it being, but pretty sure I'm remembering Thaumcraft 3 and that's like ancient history now.

Since I need the wood for vis filters, I have been selectively cutting down Silverwoods that don't have nodes in them, that's how come I don't know the answer to this. I've been "saving" those trees for in the future, when I finally do know what to do with them, and what to do with the nodes. Seems like nodes aren't used for very much, I've almost got my wand recharge station completed with just your everyday normal nodes (the ones that didn't go pale on me but stayed normal). Is a pure node from a silverwood tree going to be of any use to me?

The nodes stay where they are, but they also stay with a wooden block in the same block as them too. If you destroy the wooden block with a black spot on them, you'll destroy the node too.
So you're left with floating blocks of wood if you cut down the rest of the tree

Gotcha, yeah that sure is odd. Glad I haven't touched my trees with nodes in em yet. I think I'll just leave em be unless I really need that wood.

I cut em down (manual farming since the drop rate on saplings is bad anyways) -- broken nodes for Auram, Silverwood for Praecantatio.

Once I scan a node within a silverwood, I usually break it. They're so tiny that they don't help with wand re-charging. Its annoying to wait for saplings without Dartcraft Force mitts, but I recommend breaking them and moving on with your game.

Hoe of Growth works on Silverwood saplings like bone meal on regular saplings

Ahh true, true... I have about 15 non-node silverwood trees near my base. I've cut one down and must have been lucky as I got a sapling.
Sorry for misunderstanding the meaning of the post! :)

I could have been more specific though. ;)
