I must second this comment.

Mariculture may not have a proper programmatic dependency upon Enchiridion, but functionally it is required for anyone who does not already know how the mod works.

As the author of Mariculture posted here,

If you are stuck, as long as you have the mod Enchiridion installed alongside Mariculture, you will have books that you can read that will help explain many more indepth things about the mod.

I'm not sure how much more explicit he needs to be.

I beg of you, oh keeper of the pack: add this mod.
