its modular you could just build the basics and get the sprint assist and jump assist.
Ahh yeah I just looked it up and its pretty cheap xD But I have some frame rate issues and loading issues so theres really no point

They could gen a ssp world and assist you by searching it. as an alternative Get your world seed and create a creative mode game with that seed and use creative mode flight to find villages, record the x, z coords, then travel there in your ssp world.

EDIT:Also you can farm zombies for carrots/potatoes and untreated frames can be made with sticks and strings. The untreated frames are a bit fiddly (Have to be change frequently) but will work until you have a decent supply of seed oil to make treated frames, which is what you need for soul frames, cocoa frames, etc.

ADMIST, go search it up, When you get back press that little like button. Yes, it works with FTB, it works with any mod setup. Its not 100% that a village will appear where it says, but its very good.

From the AMIDST FAQ:
Q: When I run AMIDST & then either open my level.dat or enter a seed - nothing happens
A: Have you got a modded minecraft.jar ?? - Amidst won't work with those.... full stop!!
You need a clean version, so backup your minecraft.jar & do a force update using the default launcher to get a clean version

This program works great with vanilla. Not so much with FTB.

Used a vanilla install to get around the "modded jar" bit, but AMIDST can't handle the world gen. If you open your ftb level.dat, it will open it and produce a map that doesn't match. If you give it a seed the map it will produce a vanilla version of the world, which in no way matches the world that would be generated by FTB.

If all you want from a village is carrots/potatoes and frames, then there is nearly everything you need elsewhere too.

For one, as said above, Zombies are a source of both the food sources.

Secondly, you can make two lesser versions of frames, just not the proven ones.
The best ones you can make (without talking about the special effect ones) are made in a carpenter with seed oil.
You put two logs on top of each other, that makes impregnated sticks.
Then, you put the sticks around a piece of string, always in a carpenter, and you get impregnated frames.
They tend to last a bit less than the proven ones, but you don't need a village for them.

There are two things in villages that are a bit harder without, namely thaumcraft knowledge fragments and mystcraft pages. Sure, you can find both in the random chests all around the world, but that's quite hard to find enough of both to complete all that you need to do with them.

If you create a "creative" world to search for a village, you might as well cheat in either modular power suit with all the upgrades to fly very fast, or the IC2 armor that let you fly, along with the pants to add speed.
Those two will permit you to generate a lot of terrain to check for villages.

Afterward, use a mapping tool (I use Unmined, not great with non-valinna blocks, but you can spot villages quite easily with this), and look around at your pace, without having to suffer from laggy loading and such.

The simplest method is to get your seed and start a Superflat world.

The Village locations in the superflat often correspond with your normal world's village.
