Is there a way to determine which items have shoved themselves back into a filter, in order for me to determine which barrell to upgrade?

Whenever a Sorting Machine (Or transposer) gets filled up, I end up just breaking it and replacing it. Not a bad thing with a transposer, but a big hassle for a sorting machine.

Yeah just drop a chest on the tube the items will be the first ones out, but you could just look at the barrels and see which are 64 x 64

Just stick a restriction tube or two somewhere on the tube network and hang a chest off of it. It'll get the overflow and give you a bit of breathing room when something fills up. Stick an item detector in there somewhere too and hook it up to an alarm/flashing light if you want to go the extra mile.
