Partial mod compatibility?

Hi all.

I'm trying to get a mod added to my FTB packs (I run Mindcrack and Direwolf), Xie's Farming. I've been trying to do this for a while and have been failing, maybe someone will have some tips for me.

It seems like it's compatible, as the game doesn't crash, and Xie's seems to be in the mod list at the menu screen. However, in play, NEI only shows some of the items as available, and the ones that are missing I cannot craft. I'm thinking maybe it's an itemId problem? (I base that on absolutely nothing) I find this very odd. The mod seems to work, as some of the items exist in game, but it also fails because other items DNE.

I have searched around for a little while now, but no one seems to favor this mod, so words of wisdom are scarce. I have not (nor do I want to) tried disabling every mod one by one to test... Is there another way to do this? I assume there would be a mod compatibility checker, but what I've found is a simple T/F test, and not really efficient for this type of bulk mod editing.

I would like a way to test mod compatibilty in bulk like this - to be able to run a test, edit installed mods quickly, and test again. I'd also like to know if anyone's heard of this odd partial compatibility, where some items show but others don't.

Start by disabling all mods (including coremods) except for CodeChickenCore, NEI, and Xie's Farming. Start a new test world. Check if all items are present.

If not, then Xie might simply not be interfacing with NEI correctly. I would ask him about this before all else. Maybe there is a NEI plugin for this mod? Some of the more complex ones (like Redpower) require NEI plugins to show up properly in the item lists.

Done. Xie's Farming works perfectly if run more exclusively, so it's not a problem between it and NEI...

I noticed something more important in my experimenting: There's a naming overlap between some of the items in forestry (I think it's forestry... the items that get placed in crops and crossbred). I then assume it's a problem with forestry, but I can't seem to disable forestry without crashing the game. I'll have to find out more about how to do that one.

Crops crossbreeding is a part of IC2, not Forestry.
You can do tree cross-pollination with Forestry 2 now, but yes, crops and crop crossbreeding is IC2.

There used to be a crossover mod that let you put crops (the item) on a Forestry Farm and have the Combine automatically harvest, but not unplant, them. I don't know what happened to it, though.

Except that it is working well with latest forestry for MC 1.4.7 I also don't know what happened.

It doesn't work with multiblock farms, but old farms didn't change with forestry 2.0 (only now with 1.5.1 update they are finally gone).

Edit: MFR harvesters also support IC2 crops.

Ah. IC2. Thanks. IC2 is not only integral to the modpack, but also very cool. I'd rather have IC2 than my Xie's mod.

Looks like I'm up the proverbial creek then.
