[Pack Idea]Traveler between Worlds

So basically my idea was to make an HQM based Map/Pack, where you spawn in a long, long corridor and have only one opportunity: to enter the first Mystcraft world i created. In This Mystcraft world you have a skyblock themed map with quests for like 3 or 4 mods. If you manage to play through the first world with its quests completely, you get the opportunity to go to the next one etc. etc.

Since this is the first pack I create though, any ideas for mods i should add and for worlds for which I can create quests are really appreciated. I currently have:
-> Quadrum,
-> Ex Nihilo,
-> HQM,
-> Tinkers Construct,
-> Iguana Tweaks,
-> NEI

installed.

Its an interesting idea! Would all the worlds they have to go through be pre-built by yourself? And if so would they thus have "themes" for each?

They would not all be prebuilt, but i plan on going into detail with 2 to 4 mods per world, in a way that players from "No Experience" up to "Experts" can enjoy playing. afterwards you will get the chance to revisit each world to gather the stuff you need to fight the end boss.

Ah nice! :) I'd be tempted to suggest something like Metallurgy, just for the extra material tiering you can do with it - and it plays nicely with Iguana Tweaks too!

Hmm... not got any off the top of my head... perhaps a verdant jungle world that takes you into Botania, Magical Crops and/or something like AgriCraft; then a desolate wasteland that cannot support life in the traditional way and so requires more extreme industrialisation - MineChem for making food, Mekanism for power, something like that?

K thx i will definetly look into that later. Working out the idea for the pack is just the most simple step in creating one i guess ;)

I hope you mean "your support" in the general terms of the community and not specifically me, because I am like the worst person to give advice! :) I've only seen a lot of mods rather than played with them - especially in their 1.7.X iterations.

On that note though, you might have to think carefully about how you gate the different mods; if you wanted one world to be a Victorian Steampunk type deal (say, using Flaxbeards), you could make it so people don't do it too early by making sure that zinc - an essential ingredient in all the brass that's used - can only by found on THAT world.

I meant both ;) What i was planning to do is make the linking books disarming, so that having diamonds or as you said zinc for example in one world doesn't mean having it in all worlds

Ahh nice! I was wondering how you'd get around that issue - that will make things quite a bit easier in terms of keeping the worlds independent. :)

And when it comes to the final bit, for getting stuff from all worlds, you could grant them ender chests (either vanilla or from Ender Storage, if its compatible) so they can dump items into them from each world and access them in the final world, bypassing the disarming - but only when they've got to that point!

That was exactly what i was planning to do. Another idea i had for this is adding draconic evolution and giving them the charm of dislocation in the end, but i dont really now what would be better.
EDIT: The only problem i see with disarming is how do i get the players to read that these books are disarming, cuz when i was playing hqm packs i never read the Task Descriptions :)

Ah, see I always read mine! :)

Maybe by example? Give them a chest full of diamonds, iron and so on in the corridor, and then when they jump to the first world it would be completely obvious - then have mentioned in the book a sort of "Ah. I was afraid of this... it looks like you can't take items with you. Perhaps you can find some method in one of the worlds you have yet to face? Until then, you'd best be careful when stepping through portals. Good luck." or something like that?

If you want to use computercraft and ad-ons, there should be an ad-on that makes an speaker peripheral that way you can just let your computer say it,if you go that route there should also be an chatblock making it able to also say it in chat.

Thanks, thats also a nice idea but i was planning on having the corridor more fantasy/medieval like so computers are not quite the best option.

Feels like an awsome pack is being born. I'll just take my reservation . Btw it can be a good idea to create a themed hub in every world so you take the feel when you enter. Like a building with clock tower for early industrial era. Or a mystic temple ish building for more magical ages.

And what kind of building would fit a dead wasteland?
