But world-holes are GREAT for dumping machinery into! :p
Seriously, though, the three-dimensional freedom of building is really great in a giant hole. You can go up, or forwards/backwards, or sideways... I know you can do that anywhere, but in, say, a hill, I might be restricted by the actual size of the hill.
^^^
Good for making "natural"(?) mob farms too, they always take a lot of room.

I have solved the giant pit problem by running my BC quarries a few levels down under my base using my mining tunnels for placement. This has several advantages. I can access quarry safely and easily, I can run power down to it easily from a reactor in my bases basement. If I'm lucky I can clear the water from a pit or two that I will be able to use later. Say for turbines or something.

I see the appeal, though I don't share it. My type of challenge is building with the terrain and not having basements. Mainly because I tend to cluster too many things together and my fps drops to unplayable levels. When I spread out I have less issues. :p

Makes me wish Dimensional Doors was in Infinity. Very good for laptops and toaster desktop it was.

I've finished all three dimensions. I've got some very great news. The Deep Dark appears to not only double vanilla ores, but also mod ores. The results are in the spreadsheet in the OP, ore here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...MD6JEhYbQFpmOkwOzWTQnG3qA/edit#gid=1782294824

I'll upload the world for any one to inspect the setups and catch any flaws.

Glowstone? You can make glowstone by tossing redstone in a mana-pool that has an alchemy thing underneath.
Or you capture or dolly a wraith spawner in the twilight forest and setup a MFR grinder for it :) I got almost 20k glowstone for 2 auto spawners just for wraiths and let it run idk maybe 8 hours so far :)

I vote for BC quarries, for the following reasons:
  • They leave holes in the world and mine in layers, not columns. This means they are a lot more balanced out against manual mining. Also, doesn't it look cool to see the destruction of landscape happening because of your own will? Just rebuild it or mine underground if you miss it so much.
  • They look cool, especially in BC 7.
  • I'm not at all biased. coughs

And they are the OG of mining machines ;)

Nice lol

I've been using BC quarry to mine dirt in areas where the ender quarry was running. Doing it a few levels down so no huge pits.
Why bother? You may aswell have just used the BC quarry. Unless you were using the silktouch/fortune addon to the ender quarry

I vote for Mekanism's Digital Miner.

With a full suite of energy and speed upgrades as well as the power infrastructure to support it, it mines very fast and you can set it to only mine ores and leave the environment intact.

Best to use it at places people might set up a quarry at. ;)

BC quarry is easily confused, yes.

Part of the reason I rush flight in most worlds is so I can go round clearing up all the oreberry bushes it leaves behind XD
