I am wondering if the FTb community can give me a hand with something. I am wondering if anyone knows of a place that has a decent list of the metals and gems that are in MC. I googled it and got some of them but it wasn't complete. I am seeing what has been use and is free from the periodic table of elements. Now I am wanting mineable ore not refined stuff.

Look up "ore" in NEI. The ones that I know of that don't show up are the Thaumcraft Vis/Earth/Air/Fire/Water/Dull/Amber Infused Stone, Redpower ores (the only ones which are programmed to show up AFAIK are Nikolite and Tungsten,) Quartz, and possibly Xychorium. I think Xychorium shows up, though.
 
Well I know the six vanilla ore that have real world equivalents so that is fine. I am trying to see what is missing from the periodic table of elements that is in MC. Sorry for any confusion.

I'll have to look that up later, but a good number of them do have real world equivalents.
 
Most of the "ores" have real world equivalents. However, they don't go by the actual name of the ore that is mined, but by the product that is refined.

Example: iron is refined from hematite or magnatite.

I have a list I made somewhere from a mod I was working on (am? Idk anymore.) Wikipedia is a good place to start.

If only MC would have the Dwarf Fortress depth of geology simulation. We need hematite. And cinnabar. And catsplosions.
 
I *do* know that TerraFirmaCraft does that, though it pretty much breaks all other mods and I've seen some criticisms on its lack of realism, especially the thirst system.

And there is cinnabar. Two incompatible sorts, in fact. Though that probably wasn't what you were talking about.
 
But none of those have catsplosions.

I do like TFC but it not compatible with FTB. But then again; no mod that completely overhauls oregen would be I guess.
 
Maybe someday there will be a patch for terra firma.. So it can spawn custom ores.. That would be the most awesome thing (at least for me)
