Is there a way to re-generate land after adding a new mod with a new ore so that you can find said ore in existing chunks?
Lots of mods have a config option for "retrogenning" (I remember when that was the coolest thing ever :P). Check through the config for the mod; look for an option for retrogenning. It should be a true/false. Read the comment and set the value to the thing appropriate for what you want.
Which mod is it that you need retrogen for? Someone here might be able to tell you if that mod has retrogen options.

In this particular case the mod in question is the transformers mod. I checked the config - no retrogen.

World Generation Manager can be used to coerce many mods into performing their specific generation routines on existing chunks.
COFHCore / Thermal Foundation's World module can be used to retrogen in ores, but you will need to design the profile.
MCEdit can also be used to tag chunks as requiring certain classes of regeneration, but if it works at all will probably regenerate all mods ores, effectively doubling all existing mods ores.

mcedit you can delete chunks in your world and it will basically just regin those chunks next time you visit them just dont do it to your base also make a backup of your world before you do it just incase something goes wrong

That only works if the ores are generated using the CoFH world generation methods. Or you have added the Ores into the CoFH generation files.

In Most modpacks the Oregen gets handled by cofh

Yes but if he is adding a mod that mods ore is not accounted for in the cofh ore handling file. He would have to add it in. Therefore unless he added the ore into the cofh ore handling reloading the world gen would not work.
