I've been trying to find ways to get rid of this bug for a lil while with no luck. I think I'm almost at the point anyways of getting rid of both Optifine and Xycraft. Mainly due to Xycraft being practically useless atm and I'm just tired of dealing with having to reinstall Optifine every update and dealing with it's bugs.

I have not encountered this problem yet (mined several stacks of each xy ore), I am using Optifine HD A3 Ultra with the Soartex Fanver texturepack (DW20 modpack) without changing anything in configs or settings.

Probably worth a try if you are using another optifine version, don't know if the texturepack has anything to do with the problem.

Crap, I completely forgot about the texture pack. And I'm using the same TP as the OP.

I don't think its a problem with the texture pack as I haven't noticed this problem when I test the textures.

I don't have mipmapping on when I play/test.
But here is a pic I just took you can tell by the water at the side that I have optifine.
[Edit]
The version optifine I'm using is HD_U_A2 with the MindCrack pack

Odd. I tried this will the Vanilla textures, FyD TP, and Soartex TP. Vanilla and FYD I get the artifacting but with Soartex I do not. It may just be that the higher res from Soartex makes the glitch less noticeable but I'm not sure. Will do a small vid to show you Morton. Try at night and go a little farther back and forth. You'll see a redish texture overlap it. It's like the texture thats used to give it the glowing effect or whatever is fighting with the block texture on which is on top.

Yeah, there's a bit of z-fighting going on. There are textures on the sprite sheet for all the colors, but instead it just recolors the white xychorium.

z-fighting, that was the word I was looking for. But ya, it's not really anything that can be done about it as far as I know, right?[DOUBLEPOST=1357164646][/DOUBLEPOST]And while recording the vid to show Morton, I noticed it happening with Soartex also. (cancelled vid since Morton sees the issue.)

Well I did notice minor Z-fighting while moving but as soon as I stopped it fixed itself.
Yeah, its not anything major. Just a bit distracting. I don't think there's anything texture artists can do about it. Its just the way that Xycraft has done the blocks.

Actually there may be something that texture pack makers can do.
I'm going to try to remove the extra parts to the under texture.
Doing this means that the textures should not overlap at any location thus no more z-fighting.

That's what I did for Isabella, but then you get a small space where it is transparent between the stone texture and the xychorium.

To fix this I added a 1 pixel stone outline on the xychorium and it /sorta/ fixed it. You still get z fighting, but its not the whole block. Just depends on how you want to handle it.

Thanks for all your help, I think with the latest preview version of Optifine (B1) the issue has been reduced. But with general use (i.e. mining) you rarely notice it.

Do you reckon it's a bug that all the different ores use the white texture, and not the coloured textures in the texture file?

It's a bit of a pain, as I've started with the Blue, made some crystal texture, and discovered that it didn't use them. By using just the White, all my blocks now need to look the same, where instead I was planning on having different patterns of the crystals per colour.
Really screws with the aluminium texture too, as I was using a solid texture instead of the glowing effect, and now I get the flickering crystals underneath it.

At the very least, each ore should use it's own texture pattern instead of sharing, even if it's the same white pattern repeated. It gives much more freedom for textures.

I also removed from the white pattern the pixels that are being hid, but I guess because I'm at 64x res, I don't get any visual artifacts, and no flickering, which is great!
