So, wrath igniters are pretty dangerous as I just found out and it made me think of other minecraft disasters I have had. I figured I would make a thread to see what incredibly stupid oops moments others have had using Feed the beast and minecraft in general.

Anyways, I was in my test age, small biomes, on my server and decided to use a wrath igniter to clear a section of forest as I know it spreads to any block like the one clicked on. I had removed most of the patch of trees by clicking on their trunk and went to click on one of the last ones I wanted to remove and missed and hit the ground. Only reason I managed to stop it before it consumed almost anything in sight was that I was in creative and managed to drop water everywhere to head it off. Here is a pic of the aftermath:

Exploring a cave I opened up by letting my turtle excavate to bedrock. Was running seriously low on tin, and saw a patch of two in the floor. Mis-clicked and ended up mining straight beneath me...into lava. >_<

I had set up a way to farm gold nuggets from zombie pigmen without making them angry, by popping an orange portal on the roof of the Nether and shooting the blue one underneath them. Then I accidentally rolled my mouse wheel and punched one in the face. Item splat in the Nether--you can imagine how well that one went. Anyway, I go to grab my stuff, getting killed by the pigmen multiple times, and at last managed to pick up most of my stuff, when one hit me through my portal--without my long fall boots. Le splat...again. >_<

I don't have a lot of big oops moments because I'm too much of a "bookworm" usually, reading up on systems and mechanics before I put them to use. Well, Thaumcraft 3's documentation is mostly in-game in a way that you have to discover it yourself, and its description of Alumentum's use isn't entirely clear. I didn't know what its use was exactly, and decided to right click with it. ...I liked that autumn biome tree.

Started messing around with combustion engines. After the initial tests found out that cobblestone waterproof pipes weren't up to the task of keeping 3 of them topped off from my water system. So shut off the engines until I could get that sorted out. Saved, logged out.

Logged in the next day, saw the engines off with my RECell losing power and thought, "Now why did I do that?" Turned them back on.

Yeah, about 20 minutes later right after I dumped a massive amount of flux into the local aura there was a loud BOOM and half my engine room was gone. At first I thought it was a new flux effect I had never seen before. Then I remembered why the engines were shut off. I was out 3 combustion engines, a steam engine, one of my biogas engines, a good portion of my water, biogas and fuel lines, a long run of my logistics pipes, half my engine room's floor (built over water), and half my side wall.

Several hours later I had fixed everything up and replaced that cobblestone waterproof with liquiducts. :)

I first used the wrath igniter near my wooden beach front house. Talk about frustrating. Burned down the entire house and converted the beach front to glass which was quite frustrating to navigate!

I was on a server and my friend got a tier 5 blaze and wither skeleton spawner... yes, legitimate, and not using the glitch thingy. Anyways, I get it set up, hook it up, and later I wonder why there's so much lag. I was using melee turtles, and the xp dropped everywhere. I placed 7 brain-in-a-jars on both of them (They were 9x9 spawner rooms) and tried it again. Massive lag. Do not depend on brain-in-a-jars for massive xp input! Sooner or later I used xp turtles with autocollect on. after a few days of it being on (not non-stop) I checked. I needed to add extra-dimensional upgrade to the wither skeleton head barrel, as the extra were being voided. Turns out it filled quickly. I wasted tons and tons and tons of wither skeleton skulls! :( Oh well, at least I have 35000 coal and and 2 xp turtles with 1000+ levels each. XD

We already have a thread for this. Something with the name epic fails. I can't remember the link, once again.

Doesn't matter if a repeat, I like knowing I'm not the only dunderhead. Lets see I've done the pickaxe to IE a billion times, and fell into lava not being careful more times than I can count. :( :)

My server has this clear lag thing where every 10 minutes it would delete all the entities (this includes dropped items).

I was giving a friend a stack of diamonds and threw it to him at the same time as the clear lag happened... R.I.P Stack of Diamonds

But my biggest oops moment was making a raintank to see what it does

Once I built a Railcraft steam turbine. At the time I had a relatively small boiler (it was upgraded later-on), and I knew that the turbine would not output more than 32 EU/t. So I placed a batbox down as a small buffer between the turbine and the rest of my energy network, forgetting the fact that the boiler had a backlog of excess steam stored. Instant detonation.

The fail itself was not big, nor was the damage, but the memory amuses me to this day because I just sat there motionlessly for a good 10 seconds trying to grasp what just happened. You know, just like a soot-blackened cartoon character frozen in mid-action over a smoking crater in front of them, eyes blinking...

you all know: "never mine the block you are standing on".

there is another version of this: never stand on the block, your own quarry is going to mine, especially if you are examining a lava lake that your quarry found...

I realized that it was a bad idea seconds before the quarry removed the stone on which I was standing. and the drillhead came from the back side... so I did not drop into the lake, but it was really damn close...
