Numina, is it Needed for Direwolf20 1.7?

I was playing about with adding the Custom NPCs mod and found that removing numina allowed it to work. What exactly did I loose and is it going to create problems in the future?
 
AFAIK, it's needed as it is a coremod used for Modular Powersuits. So if you get into that, there's a good chance something will end up going wrong.
 
I would imagine if he removed Numina without removing MPS that the pack wouldn't load if it's a coremod of MPS.
