Sorry to bug you all again. I'm stuck!!

I installed the lite pack and the magic pack, both of which are great. But how do I turn a pack off? My Son came home today and installed the Monster pack, which has now removed the amethyst armour, which he really likes. I said I would try and remove the monster pack so we can go back to playing with the lite and the magic. Can someone give me some advice on how I remove it??

Thank you for ALL the help, you've all been great!

All you really have to do is just delete the files from your computer..
  1. Find where you installed the files at. (under the options tab in the launcher where it says install folder)
  2. Then go to that folder and delete the pack you want to delete.
  3. And look for 1 called monster and delete it.
I hope this helps.

You shouldn't have to turn off or remove a pack, just highlight the one you want to play and click launch. I have several installed, and they don't interfere with each other.

I just did this! I decided I could reinstall it if it caused a problem, so I decided to delete the folder. Now it's back to having 68 mods downloaded and active. It's running as it was before he installed it.

Thank you AGAIN for being so helpful :)

Only me again!

Is it a common problem that the screen 'whitens' and the game shuts down without warning? If this is a known issue, does anyone know of some techy settings that I might have overlooked? Since installing, I've managed to 'almost' build 3 houses and suddenly the screens whitens and it says 'internal server shutting down' and I can't get back into that 'world' again. Every time I try to get back in, as soon as it loads, it turns white and shuts down. I've spent hours building houses and then losing them :(

Is there anyone who might be able to help??

Thank you!!

Something must of broke because when the screen whitens that means it is crashing.

We can't help you without a crash log. Check the /minecraft/crash-reports folder for the latest crash. If there isn't a log in there with the time corresponding to when you crashed then show us the Forge-modloader.log file that corresponds to the time of the crash. Don't paste it in here, paste it to Pastebin and send us the link.

Make sure you allocate enough RAM to minecraft most people recommend 2gb but should never exceed half of your available amount I.E if you have 3gb you shouldn't allocate more than 1.5gb if you have 6gb you can go as high as 3gb. You can do this by going into the options tab in the launcher and adjust the slider, also make sure you have your java updated and if you have 64bit windows you use 64 bit java the quickest way to figure out if you have 64 bit if you do not know is if your computer came with more than 4gb you will have 64 bit.

As for learning the mods as others have said you should watch Direwolf20s lets play series (the arguably most famous player) but there are many many lets players out there, this should be used in combo with the ftb wikis that exist as they show recipes, usage, and tips for almost every block, resource, tool, armor, power system and mob in every mod. If there is a mod that you or your son figure out you just plain old do not like you can remove it via the edit modpack button under the list of packs that are available.

Sending someone who is asking about FtB modpacks in FtB forums to another launcher is just so gauche, however.
While the comments against it are good comments. It is a well-working launcher with stable versions, but faster updates. Not world-breaking ones though. I like it for shorter worlds and I like FTB for longer ones
