I'm new to FTB and have only played the core minecraft for a couple hours. I'm going to start over and use FTB Ultimate, recommended by a friend, which is probably going to make it even more complex. Is there any type of starter guides/tutorials to get me though the basics (and preferably) more advanced things?

I'm going to install the easymode scripts for GregTech (here: http://forum.feed-the-beast.com/thr...brutality-mode-everything-else-included.9536/). I've also heard the ultimate pack uses "Hard" difficulty by default instead of normal? How do I change this?

Thanks.

Just a few suggestions, I'm not that well versed myself.

Consider starting with buildcraft(BC). It is a central mod that other core mods (Forestry) uses. The power can be converted into many other mods as well. Some of the mods to look into here are; Buildcraft, Forestry, Thermal Expansion, and AppliedEnergistics (A sorting mod, extremely nice, but a bit complex). I'd look into those first three.

With FTB Ultimate, Starting with Industrialcraft2(IC2) is difficult. A mod that changes recipe's and difficulties called Gregtech makes most IC2 stuff end-game. You will need a complex mining operation to really get into it. (Just my opinion).

The quickest/funnest way to get introduced to FTB is to look at some lets plays. Direwolf20 runs a modpack that is quite similar to Ultimate, but the key difference is lacking Gregtech, so anything with Industrialcraft2 will be much easier, but Buildcraft stuff will be similar.

The largest frustration comes in when trying to decide what mod to get into. I personally don't understand Buildcraft that well, but when combined with the 4 mods I listed, you get;

-Automated Mining (Quarries)
-Sorting System (AppliedEnergistics, AE)
-Ore Processing (Thermal Expansion).

I'd recommend looking into lava as a power generation. This can be used to power IC2 and Buildcraft. Using iron tanks or Xycraft tanks (Simply google those) is the best way to store lava. Finding a guide for lava power gen is quite simple!

Sorry if this isn't helpful, just decided to write it off the top of my head.
