New to Forge

I am completely lost on how forge works. Tutorial links would be great.

Is there a website that lists all Forge Plugins?

I'm looking for Mods that can limit griefing, add ranks and disallow certain items. Any help?

It is certainly more complicated than this, but I'll try to give a short description.
Forge and Forge Mod Loader are mods that allow people to easily write mods that are compatible with each other. In the past they had nothing to do with bukkit and bukkit plugins.
But, it also used to be that you could have a server with forge and bukkit. You can't do that anymore.
So, people are just starting to write mods/plugins that do stuff like protection, ranks etc. But there isn't a good, working one yet.

This works, we have it on our server although it's not foolproof and there are ways around it.

I notice alot of Mods are for 1.4.5 and I do not see the organization that Bukkit has that gives me the ability to download a previous version. OR will these work with something like FTB even though its 1.4.2?
