Hey, I've been recording feed the beast: Ultimate for about 2 months now and I still haven't got the hang of anything. Theirs just so much to do that I have no idea where to start off, Like the most important things to first. So i was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to tell me what I should do next? I know theirs tons of videos but I honestly cant find any good ones.

you start with ic2 or thermal expansion, first goal should be to double ore. if you have gregtech nevermind ic2 and go for TE. get some power generation going, etc. then you have many stand-alone mods, like for example thaumcraft, you can make cool gadgets with it. then you should take a look at forestry and redpower, and make some kind of farms. i could go on forever honestly, but more generally, just get some power /item gen going (for example quarry, if you have gregtech you'll have to mine by hand for a long time if you're a newbie.) and then just look at the list of mods and explore them, find possible interactions between them, etc.

Okay, i understood most of that but i am a newbie.. Not just to this but to mods in general, i never play them, i preferred the original version of minecraft. But what im hearing is focus on power, get double ore (which i think you need a compactor for?) and look into forestry and redpower?

I suggest watching Direwolf20's mod spotlights, they're very helpful.

In terms of learning about stuff, you'll probably want to start out with Buildcraft, Thermal Expansion, and Industrialcraft, they're fairly simple mods that introduce a lot of the main block interactions in FTB. Then start on the other mods.

EDIT: Ore Doubling. You need a Macerator or Pulverizer. Forestry and Redpower, Direwolf's spotlights are probably the most helpful, though keep in mind only the farms he covers in his 2.0.0.0 spotlight are still around.

I'll start from the basics.
I didn't play FTB in my first world of modded minecraft, nor Technic/Tekkit.
It was my own modpack back in 1.2.5, featuring MFR, Nether Ores, Power Converters, Railcraft, Forestry, TC2, EE2, IC2, Logistics Pipes, RP2, Buildcraft, NEI, EnderStorage and Additional Buildcraft Pipes.
Preety simple, to be honest, yet powerful.
The first thing I did was to starting a new world. I did not know shit about the mods - yet I was (and still am) preety good with redstone.
I mined and was surprised by everything that was there.
Copper, Nikolite, Crystals, Tin, Uranium...
The first thing I thought was: "Wait, isn't there something that doubles the ores? It was IC2, wasn't it?"
I went to the IC2 wiki, kinda hoping there would be a tutorial.
The last thing I remember from that was I was thinking "How can I get infinite snow to cool down this nuclear reactor?
Just go with the tutorials. Find stuff and try to think "What can I do to make this BETTER?"
That's just how I work with a new mod.
